David Foster
I just went to highlight a passage for the second time now in Luke 8 (part of verse 2 and 3) and when I clicked highlight it highlighted the verse above the section... last time I did it it highlighted the part of the verse I wanted and then all of the verse after it? Also, it highlighted the text in the parallel pain (the Arabic Bible) which I've set 4 times now to "verse highlighting off". I only highlight new words/phrases in the Arabic text and so I don't want the other highlighting from my default text (the ESVS) to be included and then clutter up the text. but like I said, I've set it numerous times, and it works in the beginning but then always 'undoes' itself... and yes I've set it as the default setting for that text. Any ideas? Thanks kindly... PS- I don't have any other problems highlighting other parts of the text or other tools... just this section for some reason. Joel Brown
D.C., there are three things going on here. 1) Because you are making a selection across a verse boundary, Accordance is going to highlight those two verses (verses 2 and 3) rather than the word selection specifically. 2) In the current logic, when you have both a word and a verse highlight, the verse highlight is truncated to just the reference to not overlap the word highlight. This has actually already changed in 10.4.3 (in testing now), so after 10.4.3 you'd see your full verse 3 highlight. 3) On the Arabic bible, are you hitting the 'Save as Default' button? That should help it remember to hide verse highlights.
David Foster
Thanks for the help Joel. 1) I understand the logic to that, or the fact why it does that, but the funny this is that one time it highlighted the verses above it, and the next time the verses 2 and 3... so it wasn't consistent? 3) In regards to the Arabic bible, yes, I've hit the "Save as Default button" numerous times... and this morning just found something that un-clicks it! I was highlighting a word I didn't know in reading mode (in the Arabic Bible) and it flicked off the "Don't highlight verse" and the verse just prior to it (which was highlighted in the ESVS) all of a sudden became highlighted? Does that make sense... I highlighted one word, in green, and then a whole verse a few verses before appeared in blue?! So then I went to check the settings and indeed the "Don't highlight verse" box was now unchecked... Here's a screen shot of what happened when I highlighted the word:
David Foster
Hi guys, still having the same problem with the Arabic text... I've selected Hide Verse Highlighting and clicked on set as Default but it still switches back to highlighting... in fact, a lot of the settings that I select for the Arabic text (i.e. leading, non english book names etc) don't 'stick'... after a while they revert back to what they were so I find that I'm constantly having to go back and re-twig the settings... here's a photo just in case it helps... The Bible block of blue highlighting in the arabic sections isn't supposed to be there...
Joel Brown
D.C., My guess is that you are overwriting the settings by using the Preferences -> Set Text Display. If you make a change there, as it says in the text, you are making this change for "ALL" texts. Its an excellent way to standardize the look or settings of your texts, but in doing so, it does wipe out any text specific settings, including your choice to have the Arabic not show your verse highlighting. So, we recommend you apply any general settings you like for all texts using the Preferences, then specifically tweak individual texts after that point, using their individual Set Text Pane Display (Command-T) options. David Foster
Thanks for the help Joel, but no... I've only changed the settings on the text itself, by right clicking and changing the Set Text Pane Display section. But like I said, it never sticks for more than a few days, sometimes it will swich (back to verse highlighting) after only a few seconds... so there seems to be no pattern. Thanks, Dave
Joel Brown
David, I'm not really sure what's going on for you, then. I've never experienced a case where settings get reset unless someone is modifying the Preferences itself. Maybe it would be helpful to contact tech support and show them the issue directly?
