Dennis M Callies
In closing this podcast Dr J suggested "an installment plan for building your library." I'm wondering if he meant, not a money budgeting plan, but rather a plan for filling in the blank spaces in one's collection. I'm a fellow who started with Accordance years ago and only timidly added modules, and that in a haphazard fashion. I wonder if I should now just go ahead and purchase, e. g., the Premier level of Scholar/Library. I would welcome that kind of advice.
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
That's a hard one to answer without more information. What kinds of things do you think you are missing? (either specific modules or types of resources) Do you use original language resources? (Hebrew and Greek) What do you currently have in the way of Accordance Resources? How do you use Accordance? For what sort of tasks? Lorinda

For what sort of tasks? Lorinda The kinds of things I think I am missing, I just go ahead and get them. The problem is that since I have been doing that, I have a large conglomeration of modules but no identifiable collection (Scholar's, Library). I use Greek and Latin. I have 51 Texts, 7 Parallels, 19 English Tools, 9 Greek Tools, 8 Hebrew Tools, 39 Reference Tools, 45 General Tools, Maps, Timeline. I use Accordance in the same ways that others talk about in this Forum. I just feel that my purchasing, not the purchases, got out of hand. Lorinda H. M. Hoover
My own sense is that it would only make sense to purchase one of the collections at this point if there are resources in the collections you don't currently have that you would like to use. Given the number of texts and tools you already have, there's probably a fair amount of overlap between what you have and what are in the various Library and Scholar's Collection levels. I started out with the Library Intro Collection and then added the Scholar's Core Collection (now called Scholar's Standard), back in Version 6, I believe. I've upgraded both collections twice so that I'm at Library Intro 8 and Scholar's Standard 8. I've also made individual purchase to round out what I need/want for my work: The Graphics bundle, BDAG and HALOT, Metzger's Textual Commentary, Septuagint resources, etc. I keep a wishlist of Accordance modules I still want to purchase, and slowly whittle away at it when I can afford to. I've never bothered to upgrade to the Premier levels of either the Library or the Scholar's collections because the additional modules they contain are not high priorities for me. I hope that's at least a little bit helpful. Lorinda
Timothy Jenney
Hi, Dennis! Glad you enjoyed the podcast! Actually, you are in the position most of us long-time Accordance users have been at one point. Many of us, myself included, bought module after module, long before the various "collections" and "levels" were offered. At some point, let me encourage you to have a conversation with one of the sales people at Accordance and see what equivalent collection & level(s) you have. They'll usually offer to "convert" you to the current system. At least, that's what I did about five years ago. Things have been a lot simpler since then (even before I started working for these good folks). I made my first purchases while I was pastoring a small church. Money was tight then and I had to be frugal. Finances weren't much better financially when I became an assistant professor at a small denominational college, I bought each module after long thought and careful planning. [Oh, that I had been able to buy the "unlock all" way back then! ;-)] At any rate, the folks at Accordance will bend over backward to help you. They know that biblical scholars generally don't make a lot of money [but get great eternal rewards!], so don't feel awkward about talking to them even if money is an issue. They'll be happy to work with you to develop a plan to get you to where you want to be. Hope this helps
Dennis M Callies
I thank Lorinda and Dr J for their responses. They are helpful. I will make a list of what is offered in the various Collections and then check off those I already have. I will go from there.
