Purchasing & Licensing Questions

I have a few purchasing & licensing questions. I emailed Helen but I guess she never got my email. Been having email issues.

Can I run Accordance on both my Mac PowerBook & my desktop PC via the emulator with one license code? I'm mainly buying Accordance because I'm ready to begin studying the Bible on my Mac & Logos hasn't delievered anything, but since all of my other Bible software is on my PC I'd like to also access Accordance while I'm on there.

If I start off buying the Starter library & Atlas Sampler, is it correct that when I upgrade to larger Accordance libraries & the full fledged Atlas I'll get credits toward those packages because I bought the starters? I'd like to try Accordance & if I really love it, I may taper off of Logos & start buying my modules in Accordance. I love Logos, but I'm really getting tired of not seeing anything on the Mac side except a worthless widget (& their website also isn't functioning on my Mac too well either) that I may begin to buy more in Accordance. I won't do an all out switch since I need many resources from Logos, but I need to study the Bible on my PowerBook (I don't really want to go the Intel route yet), & since Logos hasn't delivered & QuickVerse is REALLY poor, it's time I take a look at Accordance. I've put it off so long now, but I'm sick of having everything on my Mac except a way to effectively study the Word of God. I love the Mac but really need to be reading the Bible on it, if you know what I mean.

I also have a question about creating User Tools. Is this included in the price of Accordance, or do I have to buy a separate "book builder"? I need a good platform to build personal books yet & have just not wanted to be tied down to the yearly expense of the Logos PBB.

Thanks!

Nathan

Yes. The Accordance license allows you to run the software on more than one computer, provided they're not being used simultaneously.

Yes. We don't penalize you for starting small.

As long as you have the Accordance application, you can produce as many User Tools as you like and distribute them to whomever you like. We don't have any kind of subscription model.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply! When I return home I'll probably buy your starter packages to give Accordance a try! If I love it I'll order more later (maybe for Christmas or something). I'll also go the emulator route as well since it would be nice having access to Accordance on both of my machines.

The User Tool funtion sounds fantastic! I can't wait to begin writing them & distributing them!

Now to fellow Logos users I hope I didn't sound too harsh in my last post. I still love the Logos staff & will always use their software, but I would like to begin investing in Accordance as well & plan to probably do a good investment in Accordance. Accordance seems like an amazing program & the fact that it runs on a Mac just sounds great. I'll probably do what most people do & use both programs. Since I'm wanting to stay on the Mac, I'll probably be buying more on Accordance though.

Thanks again!

Nathan

Hey Nathan, how's it going? We've seen each other on other boards before and had some good dialogue. I'm glad to see you become a complete "switcher" :)

User tools are great, and the Accordance Exchange is a great place to share your tools with other users, and to get tools from other users. One feature I thought I'd mention is that you can now create your own Bible texts as well as user tools. I don't know if that's useful to you, but it's super useful to me, and there are several free Bible modules on the Exchange now.

I look forward to seeing you more on the Accordance forums. Take care.

Thank you both for your replies! I remember both of you from the Logos boards! As to the reply to Rob, I like the idea of the ability to create custom Bible texts. I'm not sure how I'll use it but will find some form of use for it. Thanks for the info!

As to the reply to Jack, I will someday switch to Intel & run either Parallels or possibly CrossOver on it if Logos runs OK on CrossOver. However, I really need Apple to release a smaller MacBook Pro before I can go Intel. My 12" Alumium PowerBook is REALLY durable, & the case provides for better cooling, easier cleaning, & simply looks good. :) I love the durability of my PowerBook, & I really don't care for the design of the basic MacBooks (the keyboard is too difficult for me to type on, it's too stiff for the way I type), & I really don't want to lug around a 15" MacBook Pro. When Apple finally rolls out either a 12" or 13" MacBook Pro, I'll finally be ready for Intel. Until then, I'm staying on PowerPC.

I know Logos will run great on Intel when I do buy it someday, but I really need something Mac native & something that will run on my PowerPC (sure, I could TRY Virtual PC again, if I was out of my mind). I've waited & waited on Logos, but there's nothing for Mac yet, & I've even had problems with loading some of their website on my Mac! I tried QuickVerse, what a nightmare. So I need some real Mac Bible software, & since all else has failed, time to take a look at Accordance. Accordance even has resources & features I've been needing that Logos doesn't even provide or charge too much to provide (such as the Thompson module, not seen in Logos, & User Tools, which would cost me over $250 plus a yearly subscription to have in Logos). So while I won't do what some have & dump Logos & switch to Accordance, I think it's time to add Accordance to my set of Bible software tools. This won't be a "transition", but an "addition". I'll still place an occasional purchase with Logos, but I'll probably be spending more with Accordance for now. It just seems like the smart thing to do. I'm really excited about trying Accordance & can't wait to begin using it!

Special note to Helen...Thanks for emailing me & telling me how you'd like to have me as a customer. I enjoyed reading that.

Thanks for welcoming me!

Nathan

I use both Accordance and Logos on my Mac machines using Parallels. It works flawlessly and for me the ability to use both products is a great help.

I agree! I thank God that He has blessed me financially so that I am able to enjoy both Logos & Accordance. It is not really an either/or decision. Each application has its own strengths. If you can afford it, by all means use both.

I totally agree with you! While I'm still running Logos on a PC (haven't "leaped ahead" yet), I will use both programs, & also continue to use WORDsearch & the other programs I use. I've finally decided that one Bible program just doesn't "fit all", I need a different tool for each different job. Accordance is now added to my aresenal studying the Sword of the Lord.
