help! ran update and now all my resources have disappeared!

I ran the updater and proceeded to install. But then it asked for the whereabouts of the resources (e.g. ESVS) to be updated. But those folders are now missing--even after a Spotlight search.

Where have all my files gone? HAs anyone else reported something like this?

I was just using Accordance without incident...then suddenly the aforementioned.

I ran the installer..I can open Accordance and use the resources that weren't part of the updates I'd tried to install earlier.

But I still can't find the folder in which any of the resources exist. Nor can I install those updates.

Ideas?

thanks for your help so far!

They should be in your Accordance folder, which resides in your Library. The path is name>Library>Application Support>Accordance. By default, the Library is invisible, but you can open it in the Finder by clicking on "Go" on the menu bar while also holding down the option key (without option, Library will not show up). Once you ope Library, select the Application Support folder. There you should find the Accordance folder, which contains (among other things) your Texts and your Tools.

This assumes a standard Macintosh installation. I have mine in the root directory, so it is always visible, but that is "old school." There was a recent post by Helen indicating that the new "preferred" is in the user's Library.

Hope this helps.

I'm seeing that folder now in the Application Support folder, but it's empty when I open it--even while pressing option to see if that might change things.

bizarre

thanks for hanging with me...

(I know it has to have resources in it, since Accordance is allowing me to use some texts and tools)

In Accordance, go to your Library Window and then go to the modules that are not opening. Select it (single-click) and then remove it (Command-Delete) or click on the 'Edit' menu and then choose 'Delete'. Once it has been removed from the Library Window, go to Easy Install in the Accordance menu and download it again. It should then open for you.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hooray for long week-ends! I bought two modules this am, downloaded them using Easy Install. They were the first I had added since I first bougnt Accordance in June. They showed up fine and dandy. Easy Installer aslo noticed that there were some modules that came with the starter package but hadn't been installed. It also dl'ed them with the purchased modules. Well, later, I was messing around and decided to open a saved workspace. It asked for the ESV Crossref module. I've used it several times in the past and the window Accordance opened had the folder for tools so I opened that. Inside I could see all the tools but they were grayed out, including ESV Crossref. So after trying several things, I re-opened the dmg file for Accordance, installed over the old one, went to Easy Install (after checking I still had the problem -- oh, and while checking Accordance couldn't find Mounce Greek Dictionary -- everything else worked) and it said I had something from the starter package that needed to download. OK. It got the Mounce dictionary and installed it, but is oblivious to the "hiding in plain sight" Crossref module. Soo, when the week-end is over I'm calling support.

Well, its going to be a better week-end. I was trolling through the "Bug Swatters Mac" forum and found the topic "AFter trying to update ESV/ESVS..." and a message by Keith Lawrence. I followed his process and now I am fully rockin' all my modules. I can sleep tonight and not worry about bothering support tomorrow.....at least not about this problem.

Peace and Joy

John

Oh, and let me be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas, 2014
