jwritebol Posted June 14, 2006 Share Posted June 14, 2006 I think it would be helpful if in the menus that appear in version 7 that the option to look up an English word using OS X's dictionary would be included. Something similar to what Safari does when I highlight and right click on a word I can use the newer dictionary to get a definition. I know Accordance has the Webster module, but part of me prefers to see what a modern dictionary English dictionary says as well. Thank you for the great product that is Accordance! God Bless You. Helen Brown Posted June 14, 2006 Share Posted June 14, 2006 We have implemented Services in version 7, however, when I tried the dictionary just now, it did not pop the word in, though it does in Google. jpkang Posted June 14, 2006 Share Posted June 14, 2006 Nothing happened the first time I tried it (Dictionary opened but didn't transfer the selected word) on two machines, but on subsequent trips to the Services menu, it worked. Jeremy Writebol Just FYI, Webster's 1913 Unabridged Dictionary is the actual Webster's from then. The reason it was included was that during those years of unabridged publication, many biblical references occur. jpkang Posted June 16, 2006 Share Posted June 16, 2006 It might be of interest to some people that Tiger's Dictionary contains the full text of the entries of the New Oxford American Dictionary, 2nd edition (~2100 pages), which is based on prototype semantics.
