Highlighting in iOS

It is my understanding that it is not but it is in the planning stages for a future release. The single word selection works well with the Amplify feature which is very helpful. Highlighting and copying multiple words would be helpful in a workflow process that utilized a word processor to create documents. Hang in there and be patient. The iOS app is going in the right direction and Accordance is the best Bible software out there.

I would like very much to be able to highlight multiple words or perhaps a phrase on my ipad 2. Hopefully this is "on the radar" for a "near" release!

I was informed on another thread, that the next release will have it… After joking only 7 more releases till the feature, i was told 1.5 was the going to be the next release and it should be there.

Just for the record, verse portion highlighting does not work on my iPad with 1.5.

Bob:

This is currently by design. Not all bible translations have sentences and displaying the text as paragraphs is one of the display setting options. So we were a little unsure how to handle this in the same way we can in tools. It is still our plan to add arbitrary text selection to all of our modules in a future release which will solve this problem once and for all.

Thanks for your feedback,

Scott

The latest iteration of iOS allows sentence and paragraph highlighting in some tools, but not all, which is somewhat of a puzzle that I hope is solved at some point. Still, the Accordance app has taken major steps forward and is a wonderful tool that supplements Accordance 9.x on my Mac. :)

I too would like to be able to highlight a number of words at once without having to highlight the whole verse.

Yes a more natural selection like in iBooks would be ideal.

Any news on when we can expect highlighting random lengths of text? The current highlighting procedure requires a lot of steps and is unlike other iOS book software I have used (Kindle, iBooks). Are there plans to allow us to hold, get the handles to allow,us,to select whatever text we desire, and then choose what to do with it (highlight, amplify, etc.). Just wondering....

Yes, Scott has said elsewhere that he is working on this function but it may be a while yet before it is released.

So, it seems that highlighting multiple words is still not possible. I am running 1.7.6 on an iPad Air. Anything new in the last 18 months? I couldn't even highlight a whole verse.

What am I missing here?

If you press and hold on a verse reference you can highlight an entire verse or multiple verses. Version 2.0 will bring arbitrary text selection, and should be available within a couple weeks.
