Instant details information missing

Hey all!

A couple weeks ago, I was coached through adding a module onto my iPhone, through the Accordance Sync. Surprisingly, adding the module that way actually wiped the modules on my phone. No biggy, as I was able to add them manually again (though it might be good to look at).

A few days ago, I noticed that my instant details are void of some information. I'm not sure all what, but when the it pops up, it gives me the definition, Strongs number, the Hebrew/Greek word, and then a very brief definition. It used to have a much more detailed definition, as well as the list of translation links (that when Amplified, one could click and go to that translation's search). I've been trying to figure out where that information went, and which module would bring it back. Anybody know?

Thanks!

It looks like the KM Hebrew Dictionary is not installed. Can you verify that it is in your Library?

Hi Rick!

It is installed, loaded through the same Accordance Sync.

For kicks, I just tried deleting it and reinstalling it. Instant details haven't changed.

Hi Matthew,

We haven't been able to reproduce that issue here in the office. We keep coming up with 'What it should be'. We are using Accordance for iOS version 1.6.8 and iOS version 7.0.3.

I did notice that the three lines that are showing, are the exact top 3 lines from the 'What it should be' screen when you amplify to 'lonely H0910' (Lam. 1.1). There is also a space before the other information. Have you touched inside the Instant Details window and scrolled down, by sliding your finger up, inside the window? You may also want to try changing the Instant Details Text Size in 'Settings'. If you've already tried these and they didn't help, please contact us in support. We will be looking forward to hearing from you.

You can call us here in the office at 407-339-0266, Skype us at oaktreesupport or email us directly here at support@accordancebible.com so that we can

try to get a grip on what's happening on your iPhone.

Best wishes,

Billy

Hi Billy!

I appreciate you getting back to me.
It must have been something I did, then. I have tried scrolling down, and just now tried changing the text size, but nothing else showed up.
It's possible this may be related to something that happened before? Before I bought one of the collections, I had downloaded the iOS app (by the way, I'm using the latest) to test out whether I liked it or not (which I did, of course, same version as I have now). When I purchased the collection (Essentials), I deleted everything from inside the app because most of it was the demos. When I installed the modules I liked, I had that same issue, that not everything was showing up in the instant details. I deleted the app and reinstalled, and re-downloaded the modules I wanted. From there, everything worked great until this one.
Like you, I'm using iOS 7.0.3, Accordance 1.6.8.

I'll try deleting the app and reinstalling when I get some downtime tonight.
Thanks!

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for getting back to us. Just so I understand, the KM Hebrew Dictionary is showing in your Hebrew Tools list and you have uninstalled it and reinstalled again, already. Do I have this right so far? I did just check your account and everything looks fine from there.

In your first post, you mentioned that you did a sync and lost your modules on your iPhone. Syncing modules is 'one way' from the Mac to the iOS device. Anything that is not selected on the Mac will not be on the iOS device after the sync (with the exception of user content which syncs both ways).

http://accordancefiles2.com/helpfiles/Mobile/Advanced/Content/Topics/02_Install-Update/syncing.htm

You mentioned that when you get a chance, that you are going to delete the Accordance iOS app and reinstall it. After you reinstall it, just download the iOS Starter Collection to begin with and

then stop and test your Instant Details at that point, before downloading anything else or syncing with your Mac. It would help us to know if it is working at that point or not.

There are also some free instructional podcasts at iTunes that you may be interested in sometime. http://www.accordancebible.com/resources/multimedia/details/?id=98854

The ones that relate to iOS are Podcasts # 91, 85, 75, 61, 60, 57, 56 & 55.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks,

Billy

Hi Billy,

Ya, the KM Hebrew Dictionary is showing in my Hebrew Tools list.

The process that got me here was this. When I purchased the collection, I downloaded all the modules I wanted through the app's download interface. Everything worked perfect.

I then realized "Spurgeon's Faith's Checkbook" devotional didn't show up in that list, and posted on the forum about how to get it onto my phone (http://www.accordancebible.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11095). I then used the Accordance Sync between my Mac and iPhone, syncing Faith's Checkbook to my phone. I selected only that one module. When it finished, I went back to my phone, and discovered that all the modules (with the exception of Faith's Checkbook) were gone. I then used the Accordance Sync to reinstall all the modules I had before.

That's when I discovered the missing Instant Details info. Per my second post, I the uninstalled it (did the "edit—>delete"), and reinstalled it through the iOS app's download interface.

Maybe it has something to do with me downloading them from both places?

Another thought just occurred to me. I sometimes use Phone Clean, which is an Mac app that cleans out the cache of the apps on my phone. I don't think I performed a clean since installing Accordance on to my phone. Is it possible that what it cleans out might have affected the app? I'll test what you suggested, and if everything works as normal, I'll test that as well and see if there is a correlation.

Thank you!

Morning Billy,

I've been experimenting, and I haven't been able to recreate what happened, either. I deleted the app and reinstalled; worked like a charm. I added content through the Accordance Sync; worked like a charm. I even deleted the KM Dictionary, which left the instant details without that information as expected, reinstalled, and it was back.

So whatever I did was definitely a fluke, likely on my part. I realized in the Accordance Sync, the original time I had unchecked all the content in the window, checking only the devotional I wanted. I assumed it was trying to overwrite what I already had on there, so I unchecked them. The Accordance Sync is smarter than I gave it credit, for it understood what I already had on there. So that's how I ended up wiping out all the content. Perhaps that's what did it?

I even now just did the Phone Clean process to see if it caused it, but nothing.

I haven't a clue. Sorry! I appreciate you walking through this with me. I'll pay attention, and if it ever happens again, I'll record what I did. It's clearly a user error on my part!

Thank you!

Yes, when you sync the modules, the checked ones are those already loaded on iOS, but if you uncheck them, they get removed.
