Module Arrangement Can Cause Crash

When I put ALL of my Bible texts into diffferent folders (Old English, Modern English, Greek, Hebrew), all was functioning well until I quit and reopened the program. Then it would ask for me to locate the file "Old English" (which was the folder in which my default KJVS text was stored). Of course, there was no file "Old English," so when I would cancel the dialog box, the application would open with a new tab containing my default text (along with all my previously saved workspace tabs). Then selecting any tab would cause Accordance to crash.

I was able to correct the anomaly by moving my default Bible text to the "root" level of the Arrange Modules hierarchy, and now all is functioning well again. I expect this is a small bug. On the positive side the new version is excellent. I really like the enhancements.

Best regards,

Ron Webber

What happens if you re-file your default Bible in the "Old English" folder, reselect your default Bible in the "Search Window" setting in the Preferences, then quit and reopen?

(I have all my Bible texts in folders as well, but no error)

I tried the same, moved out, back in, reapplied default search text in the Preferences, but the same error message...

Can people who experience crashes email me with the resulting crash log (attachment preferred, but copied/pasted into the body of an email is fine). This file is found in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ (called Accord 7.0.crash.log)?

[edited to correct the path name for anyone who is reading this thread for the first time]

That file is found in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Accord 7.0.crash.log

Will do, jp.

Sorry, we have been unable to reproduce this bug, so we cannot fix it.

Since this is only happening to some users and only reported with Texts and not Tools, I wonder now if the crashes are due to users whose Texts preference file is corrupt.

So... what happens to those of you with this problem if you

1. quit Accordance if it's open,

2. drag your ~/Library/Preferences/Accordance Preferences/Texts file to the desktop (to cause Accordance to recreate it from the main preference file in /Applications/Accordance folder/Accordance preferences/Texts),

3. reboot (to flush out file caches), and

4. relaunch Accordance?

If the crashing stops, then it seems that the user's preference file was somehow damaged (or developed/exposed an issue in upgrading). If it is still crashing, then it may be worth trying the same with the main preference fille inside the Accordance application folder's Accordance preferences folder (but note that if you move the main Texts preference file out of its folder, you will need to reenter your registration codes to rebuild your registered Texts--a pain if you have many texts--but perhaps necessary if there is in fact corruption in that file).

In any case, don't delete either file, since you may want to restore them if they do not turn out to be the source of the crashes.
