Using Instant Details in Accordance 9

I have been playing with the new zones feature and really like it pending fixing a few bugs. However, I have found it difficult to incorporate the instant details and resource palettes into my workspace. How are you using these? I think it would be a good idea to allow for them to become part of the workspace rather than floating. The sample screen shots provided by Joel and Dr. J do not include them, so I was wondering how these are suggested to be incorporated.

Thanks

thanks for the reply. I tried that, but found it visually unappealing since I could not adjust the resource palette to cover up the open space... will continue to experiment as well and look forward to some videos from Dr. J.

I set mine to instant hide, and store it over the search bar. This seems the best use of space to me: If I'm looking down in the text, by default I'm not searching, and if I'm up searching, I'm not using the details pallet.

DS - Great idea about the Instant Details box... Great idea.

What about your Resource Palette? Do you not use that?

Nope, I don't use the resource pallet, mainly because I couldn't figure out anywhere I liked it! Plus, it doesn't take that long to get used to using the library window and the drop down menus for all the stuff I used to use the pallet for. I'd love to see an auto-hide or a dock-type feature for the resource pallet.

With respect to the Instant Details window, is there a way to make the text "sticky", i.e., when you hover over a word, it gives you some info down there, but then when you move your mouse a little (without hovering over a new word), the instant details windows goes blank. Thanks.

Just hold down the Shift key to freeze what ever is in the ID box. You can even then click the Copy button to copy its contents to the clipboard!

Cool, thanks. Another issue I've come across is that the Update suggests that I can update Synoptics from version 2.1 to 2.2 -- it doesn't suggest any cost and when I click go to Webpage, it has an "*" for the cost (I own the Scholar's Intro version of Acc9) -- I don't even see how I can download version 2.2?

Thanks!

In addition to my question above re: synoptics, I have a potentially silly question -- why do I have to triple click on things (clearly I'm a new user!) -- why not just make it double click, esp. in contexts where double click seems to do nothing ?!?

In a text, single-clicking positions the cursor in the word, double-clicking selects the word and triple-clicking amplifies to a tool.
