Local Help Folder

Greetings!

Wanted to see if someone could point me to the directory (V10) where I should move the help folder that I downloaded so that I can have access to this information locally vs. having to access the help online?

Appreciate your assistance in advance!

The help files are already on your drive. It is within the Accordance.app package in your applications folder. So unless you have Accordance on a network drive it is already local. The help is there whether or not you have internet access.

Michael...

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, the help content (the interface does) will not load when I select help from within Accordance. Wondering if something went awry with my install?

Perhaps I did not understand your original question. What I was referring to is the set of help pages that will open in your default web browser. So within Accordance I went to "Help" in the line at the top of the monitor (just to the right of "Window" and clicked it. The first item is "Search" with a flashing cursor awaiting input. The second item is "Accordance help" Clicking this opens the browser, and the address is local: file:///Applications/Accordance.app/Contents/Resources/Accordance%20Help/Default.htm

I turned off WiFi and I could still navigate help since it was in the package called Accorance.app in the Applications folder. Did you do a standard install on your computer? Are you the administrator? You may need the assistance of the technical folks at Accordance.

There were some reports a couple of months ago where certain browsers on certain systems failed to load the local help files. Please report on the specifics of your system and browser.

Hi Jeff,

Helen's right. Be good to know the specifics.

Also, can you test it with a different browser? (say on Chrome - just copy and paste the url)

and

(at least briefly) turn on Javascript AND Java and try again - though I don't need Java to make Help work, I remember that someone did. Probably not a long term good solution due to security issues, but give it a try for the help and post your results. You can then turn Java off. It's safe to leave Javascript on.

They are found in Safari/Preferences in the Security tab

This webpage explains how to allow Safari to access local files, such as our Help. Thanks to a user who sent the link.

Interesting. I have not disabled local file restrictions, but have not had any issues accessing the local help files.
