Bible Reading Plan

I'm looking for a Bible Reading plan where I can monitor my progress. I don't know if this possible in Accordance or would be better as a widget. Does something like this exist or is it possible to make such a module? The type of thing I'm thinking of is on the website http://doxologypress.org/theaudio/bible/index.php but would prefer it in accordance or dashboard.

Ian, the Daily Readings module included with every level of the Library CD-ROM contains two through-the-bible-in-a-year reading plans: a devotional arrangement which includes an OT reading, a psalm and proverb, and a NT reading; and a chronological arrangement. You can open this module to the current day and command-click one the Scripture links to get a window displaying all of those passages. If you want to mark your place, you could use a highlight style.

Hope this helps.

Has Accordance ever explored a daily lectionary? I know various church bodies and books have different versions of it. The LCMS has one that has gotten a lot of mileage since our new hymnal came out a couple years.

Todd,

We never really have simply because those who were interested in it merely chose to create their own user tools (or download those others had created) rather than requesting that we do them. We can certainly look into offering better support in this area.

Hi Todd:

The Catholic Study Bible does include the Catholic Lectionary (3 Year Cycle of Sunday Readings, Major Feast Day Readings, Weekday Readings).

Steve,

Thank you! I myself had forgotten this helpful inclusion in the CSB. The sad thing, for me anyway, is that it does not include the Psalm for each day! Any suggestions?

David,

Could the Psalms be put in some how using User Tools?

Kevin.

There are some web sites that have the lectionary with the Psalms, like the USCCB web site (http://www.usccb.org/nab/).

Kevin,

You would have to copy the lectionary out of the CSB and then copy them into a user tool to add the psalms.

Dear Steve,

Thank you for the following "There are some web sites that have the lectionary with the Psalms, like the USCCB web site (http://www.usccb.org/nab/)." Yes, the site if very useful. The only disappointment for me is that it is the American version! (No disrespect to my American RC sisters & Brothers!) In the UK (and I think much of the rest of the English speaking RC world) we use the Jerusalem Bible version or the RSV. Unfortunately also, we mainly use the Grail version of the psalms (a beautiful version which I have grown up with since we changed from the Latin - it is even used in the USA for "The Prayer of the Church") You might be interested in looking at http://www.universalis.com/Europe.England/0/

Kevin.
