Fr. Rusty Matheny
Should I be running my macbook in 64 bit mode, does it help/ Don't really know how to find out if I am or not as I write this, but reading that this does help many programs and manages ram better. Is Accordance written to run in both/either 32/64 bit. Which is best for Accordance? Thanks. R+
Greg Terry
Fr Rusty: There are some performance advantages to using the 64 bit kernel but in the real world, you may not see a huge difference. The disadvantages are that the 64 bit kernel may not be compatible with some applications such as vmware. I happily run in 32 bit kernel. There is a small app you can download that will tell you what you are running and give you the opportunity to change it if desired. It can be found at: http://www.ahatfullofsky.comuv.com/English/Programs/SMS/SMS.html Scroll down the web page and read all the very helpful info. I started using this shortly after Snow Leopard appeared. This program is a 'set it and forget it' deal. You won't need to run it unless you ever wish to make a change. The program is called Startup Mode Selector. Hope you find it helpful, Peace! Greg
