Karyn Traphagen
I've done a search: שׁבת@ [VERB perfect first common singular] Range= all text I get a return of 19 verses (all hiphil) but the Concordance in Details shows many more passages than the 19 that show up with the highlighted verb in the text window. The Concordance lists: שׁבת to cease, rest (19) Gen 2:2-3; 8:22; Exod 5:5; 12:15; 16:30; 23:12; 31:17; 34:21; Lev 2:13; 23:32; 25:2; 26:6, 34-35; Deut 32:26; Josh 5:12; 22:25; 2 Kgs 23:5, 11; Isa 13:11; 14:4; 16:10; 17:3; 21:2; 24:8; 30:11; 33:8; Jer 7:34; 16:9; 31:36; 36:29; 48:33, 35; Ezek 6:6; 7:24; 12:23; 16:41; 23:27, 48; 26:13; 30:10, 13, 18; 33:28; 34:10, 25; Hos 1:4; 2:13; 7:4; Amos 8:4; Ps 8:3; 46:10; 89:45; 119:119; Job 32:1; Prov 18:18; 22:10; Ruth 4:14; Lam 5:14-15; Dan 9:27; 11:18; Neh 4:5; 6:3; 2 Chr 16:5; 36:21 I don't understand the great number of verses in the Concordance and the "(19)" after the gloss. I would expect the verses with highlighted "hits" (in the BHS text window) would be the same as the list in the Concordance. What am I missing? Thanks so much, Karyn
Helen Brown
The Concordance includes all the forms of the hit lemmas, not just the ones you found.
Karyn Traphagen
Thanks, Helen. Is there a way to limit the Concordance to the verses with hits?
Helen Brown
No, the Search window does that in any case. It just gives you the entire verse.
