Font Option in "Copy As Citation"

I formerly used Online Bible for the Mac for over 10 years. There is one thing that probably miss more than any other was the "copy verses" feature. I know that Accordance has the widget but it is not quite as functional. When I use the copy as citation of a Bible text in order to paste into Microsoft Word invariably the font and/or font size are different. In Online Bible preferences for "Copy Verses" there was a check box that one could uncheck for "Font Info." I would like to recommend a check box in the "Preferences" and under "Citation" to offer an "exclude font info" or even better to have a extra key to toggle to include or not include font info with the copy as citation.

I know that one may choose "Paste Special" in Word and choose "unformatted text" as an option. However, that is a two step procedure. I use it occasionally but when having to insert several references I revert back to using Online Bible for that task.

Having the option to include or not include the font info in the copy as citation would be a great benefit to some of us. There is value in having both options for different purposes.

Tony,

I think that is a good recommendation. However, the solution falls as much on the other end. It's is ridiculous that Word continues to bury its Paste Unformatted command. But, if you're willing to put 5 minutes of effort into it, you can create custom commands in Word with their own keyboard shortcuts. See the tutorial here how to create a custom paste command in Word:

Create a Custom Paste Command in Word 2008.

You can reduce the text of the script you use to:

tell application "Microsoft Word" to paste special (text object of selection) data type paste text

and not include the first lines of the script (which are used to remove

Thanks Joe, I will do this. Still, I think offering the option would make the widget more appealing to people like myself.

Also should've mentioned, if you like using the Accordance Widget but still want unformatted text to be used, you can do a rather simple mod to a helper script within the widget that will accomplish that. Just let me know and I can show you how.

That would be greatly appreciated!

I use a little application called "CopyPaste Pro." Every time I copy something, that item is dropped onto a "Clip History" stack. That allows me to make several copies of different items in Accordance before switching back to Pages. When I switch back to Pages, I can paste items in any order from the stack (Clip History Palette), and, by using the Option key I can control which clips paste with or without font info on the fly.

I've used this utility for about 10 years and cannot imagine a Mac without it. Best of all, it works with all applications so I can copy from any application to any other with the option of including or not including the font info in the paste.
