Purchasing individual commentaries and menu in ios

Hi, I plan to purchase individual commentaries as a preach through various books of the bible, the two I will likely be doing this with are the WBC and the nicnt. I was wondering through, I have Galatians in both, say I buy Ephesians, will accordance recognise this is the same series and group them? Or will I end up with loads of commentaries filling my menu (having WBC - Galatians, WBC Ephesians etc) making navigation a nightmare when I am changing commentary on the main screen.

Thanks.

You can certainly arrange them in order in your Library, but the apps themselves will not automatically do this.

I think he wants to know if WBC-Galatians and WBC-Ephesians will be combined into a single resource or if they will continue to be listed separately. It's the latter.

Ugh, that's a problem. I though it would merge them into the combined. May need to hold off and buy as one (if that's possible) that many single commentaries will make using the commentary switcher on the bible screen a nightmare.

If you intend to buy quite a few of the volumes, it might actually be more cost-effective to buy the series anyway. There is currently a great sale on the NICOT/NT series that may be of interest to you. http://www.accordancebible.com/Eerdmans-Sale

William B--forgive me if this is simpler than what you are asking, but have you already grouped desired volumes into a user group? (My Stuff/My Groups in the Library.) That doesn't combine them into a single module, as you are asking, but does group them for easy viewing and accessing via the Library, Amplify, etc.

And agreed with Jonathan--of course, it's a lot more money up front, but at least since I've been using Accordance, this is the cheapest that NICOT and NICNT have ever been. Even a group discount doesn't get you them for less, so you'd save money over the long haul if you are able to move on it now, and if you think you'll be using all the books in a series anyway.

(Note: No commission received for this post!)

Groups work great on a Mac, but his question is about usage on iOS, and I agree with William that a long list of entries there would be cumbersome. It would be nice if individual modules could be combined, but I think the Accordance team has written elsewhere how this could cause trouble. I don't remember details but guess it's related to the indexing/linking mechanisms used throughout the programs and modules.

Oops--thanks, Jonathan. I missed that before.

It's interesting how we have changed in the last few years, particularly with the advent of iOS devices where access is immediate. I have hard copy commentaries dotted around the house but rarely use them now coz of the convenience of the iPad. One thing that was pointed out in another thread, you can use search to find items in your library, and as has already been said, the ordering in the library can be changed so I have my resources grouped so that all Galatians commentaries or WBC commentaries can be brought together and in whatever way you prefer (as you would in the historic times with paper copies, and I'm very impatient, which you can see from another thread that I don't like clicking to library and expect to see my library in a drop down!). The listing is on the fly so for a particular period of study, I keep changing my library order to make it convenient as well as relevant to my latest purchases. (Just click edit in your library window and drag up or down and then done.) There is also the recent used window which can be cleared and then tailored.

There are usually workarounds with a bit of creative thinking depending on budget and need. I certainly wouldn't see this as a reason to delay, but as has also been said, think long term and decide if individual commentaries are the right way, or whether long term, you would be better buying sets. I have both sets and individual commentaries ( many in in kindle as accordance don't sell some individually) but I would always get an accordance version where possible as the linking is such a dream and to a certain effect, kindle is not much better than paper). ;o)
