kevin@sdgmail.com
How do you create and post a file that others might like to use? For example, can a user create a catechism, and post it for others to use (as long as these works are not copywritten, obviously). thanks for your help. Lorinda H. M. Hoover
You can share user tools, user notes, etc. on the Accordance Exchange. Presumably you could also post these kinds of things for download on a website you maintain. As you said, the biggest concern is making sure that you honor copyright. Lorinda Thanks for your reply Lorinda. I was thinking more of how do you create them? Are these pdf's that are uploaded, or some other specific format made for accordance? Thanks. Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Well, if your primary aim is for Accordance users to use it, it should be a file format Accordance can read and work with. Like a User Tool, a Workspace, etc. Accordance Exchange would give you an idea of the file formats that can easily be shared with Accordance users. Lorinda Lorinda, For example, on the Accordance Exchange, someone has posted the Augsburg confession (which in not copywritten). We can download this file and add it to our Accordance collection. My question is, how did the person create this file? Is it a pdf? Is it a specialized converted file for accordance (so it can import it)? How does someone take a text file (for example the LBCF 1689) and create an Accordance file that others can import and use? I am not sure if I am making sense. Does that help? Thanks. Lorinda H. M. Hoover
With the Augsburg Confession, the individual who submitted it imported the text into a User Tool. They either copied the text from somewhere and pasted it into a new User Tool, or they imported an ascii or html file into a User Tool. See "Importing to a User Tool" in the built-in Accordance Help for info on how to do it. Most of the User Tools on the Exchange were done this way, although a few of them (e.g. Lukan Advent) are original work that was created within Accordance rather than being imported from an existing source. User Bibles can also be imported from html files, although it is, by necessity, a rather tedious process as I understand it. (I've not tried to do it myself.) pdfs are not a good option, as Accordance cannot read them. You can share the following types of files: User Tools User Bibles User Notes Highlights files Diagrams Syntax Charts Saved Windows Any of these are made the same way you make such files for your own use. Then you can upload them to the Exchange, or share them some other way. Does that answer your question? Lorinda
Sean R.
If you need instructions on how to create a User Tool, select Accordance Help from the Help menu in Accordance. From the contents column on the left, click Doing your own Thing and then choose User Tools. There you will find a great introduction to creating and editing User Tools.
