Arabic Bible module

First off, thanks for the Arabic Bible Module. I have been learning arabic and this is a very helpful module for my work. I would love to add grammatical tags in my instant details box for the Arabic Bible module. Any suggestions how to do this? I guess I can use the syntax chart and fill it in as I go through the verses but I sure would love to get the grammatical tags in my instant details box for quite access. Also I need a good arabic online dictionary. I know about The Oxford English-Arabic Dictionary of Current Usage but would really would love something that could integrate into accordance on line.

Sorry, we have no plans to tag this Bible and no way for tagging to appear in Instant Details. The Syntax window will work but you would end up with a lot of saved syntax files. I think User Notes might work better, in which you can add tagging information on each verse as you go along, and scroll these with the Bible.

 

No online resources will integrate into Accordance, though with 8.1 you can link User Tools (not Notes) to any URL, which will open in your browser.

For learning Arabic, I recommend the ArabBible program. It has verse by verse audio with variable speeds, full grammatical analysis, including parsing and verb tables for strong verbs (http://www.arabbible.com/). I can't plug this resource enough; it's amazing. It is for Windows XP, but if you are running Windows under VMWare Fusion (or Parallels, or Bootcamp, or maybe even Wine), this works beautifully. This program is for Windows, but it's not in competition with this Accordance module, which is simply the Biblical text.

Thanks Helen... makes sense that Accordance wouldn't tag this module. User notes is probably the way to go...

 

And thanks Thomas. I have a Mac and would probably have to add some kind of virtual environment to make the software you suggested work. If there is a mac alternative out there, I sure would be interested!

 

I'll check out those dictionaries. I've done a lot of searching and haven't found one I really like. So thanks for the suggestions!

The ArabicBible for windows is also excellent in the sense that it doe's not use Allah for Elohim but uses Al-Ilaah which is a MUCH more accurate translation.

This fully tagged Arabic Bible in Accordance would be great, plus there are newer ones which would also be cool to have in Accordance.

I wrote to him to tag the Bible also with Strong's or GK and he will do it when finished the morph tagging. But no release date. He is on work since 1980.

I just wanted to encourage you to buy it as well! It's the best electronic (and grammatical) resource out there! I've been using it for 12 years now and it's simply amazing! 

 

As for dictionaries, you guys may be interested to know that Logos has the Perseus library (for free) which contains 2 English Qurans, 2 lexicons (one of which is Lane's) and an Arabic Quran. 

 

Being able to enter search terms into  Lane's lexicon has been an invaluable tool! 

 

It would be amazing if Accordance could get these modules one day since the project puts them out there for all to freely use (but I know how busy you guys are!)
