Maybe this has been addressed before, but, it would be nice if the devotionals, ie., Morning and Evening, etc. would open up to the current date.

Meanwhile, you might want to try TextExpander. It allows you to type in large amounts of text with small text shortcuts. It also allows for a certain degree of automation. I've created a text "snippet" which I've titled "cdate" (stands for "current date"). When I type that, I get the full current date. I can now type in "cdate" in morning and evening, hit enter, and it goes to the current date.
