Highlight improvement

Could you please improve highlights? If two verses are highlighted, why there is an empty space in between the verses? Highlight could cover both verses without any white space in between. That would dramatically improve visual look.

Also, when I highlight verse and then one word, I expect that word to be on the different background, not that whole verse is losing background because I chose one word to stand out of it… We already discussed it somewhere, but I don't see any logic in removing highlight for all verse if I add extra highlight color to one or two words.
