Ken Simpson
Hi Michael, it's not really possible the way you are thinking, but there is a way to do something very similar. Open your Hebrew text and do your search for בֹ֖קֶר. You should get this sort of window. then open a parallel keyed text (in this case I am using the ESVS). Not that as you mouse over the hebrew words, the appropriate English words are high lit (our cross-highlighting feature) Select the appropriate English word and press CTRL-click and then select SEARCH=> KEY NUMBER from the drop down menu This will give you a new tab with the results of that Hebrew key search. The problem is you can't see the Hebrew and the English together at this point. If you click and hold the tab bar you can drag the tab into a new position which will place it next to the Hebrew and parallel english text in some fashion. You can now close the parallel English text. The problem now is that the Hebrew and English texts won't scroll together. So, if you click on the small triangle next to the tab name a drop down will appear. Select TAB TIES, and "TIE TO HMT-W4" or whatever your Hebrew text is called, and now they will scroll together with the Hebrew word highlit on one side, and the Hebrew Strong's number hits highlit on the other. This may not be exactly the same. They are not the same because searching for בֹ֖קֶר gives hits for בָקָר֙ as well (oxen) and to seek, to search and to sacrifice. So if you go to the Hebrew side of things, select the first instance of בֹ֖קֶר and ctrl-click SEARCH => LEMMA you will see you get 213 hits, and the STRONGS search gives 206. Close enough for a good comparison. Does all that make any sense? Edited February 19, 2014 by Ken Simpson
Helen Brown
Thanks, Ken, much better than the short reply I was writing.
Λύχνις Δαν
Hi ya, I've wondered in similar cases in the past why one could not simply open a second tab and do [HITS=k tabname] and have that work. I know you get an error saying the language is not the same in both tabs, but as the key number information is available I would guess a linkage could be formed. Is this possible or am I missing something else ? thx D
