Dr. Nathan Parker
See attached image... I have a two copies of the Thompson Chain Reference Bible open in a workspace. One as a Parallel Pane so it syncs with my Scripture content. The other is in a separate zone. so I can dig into the additional content. I want to set it up when I click a link to one of the topics in the Parallel Pane version, instead of it going there in the Parallel Pane version (as it's doing now), it goes to the one in the separate zone instead so I can keep the Parallel Pane syncing with my scripture and use the version in the separate zone for looking up topics. How can I do that? Thanks!
Ken Simpson
Hi Nathan, no attached image, sorry. But, you can do it. Try this. Have your basic parallel workspace (with only 1 TCR pane open). Click on a reference in the TCR and a new (identical form) 2 pane reference window will open. (mine actually opens 2 texts - don't know why). Then drag the TCR pane over to the far right and drop it. This makes it "independent" of sorts. Close the text pane using the close button on the tabs so that only the TCR view remains at the right of the initial zone you opened. Resize the TCR only pane to what you want. Make sure the recycle button is selected (blue). Now you can scroll the right hand side TCR independently, and any click on the right will jump only in the right, but clicks in the TCR parallel will move the right hand TCR to the relevant link. If you need a little movie I can do that tomorrow, but I am about to fly interstate to demonstrate in Victoria. Dr. Nathan Parker
Hi Ken! Sorry my screenshot didn't attach. I just tried your instructions, and I think I'm doing something wrong. A video would be great when you have a free moment. No big rush. Thanks!
Leopold Green
Hi Ken, I would love to use this approach [though with different resources] but I don't quite understand the instructions - sorry! Any further guidance would be gratefully appreciated!
tony10000
It would be nice if Accordance had a function to select a target pane for links...
Ken Simpson
I'll do it tonight (our time here in Oz)
Ken Simpson
I am annoyed at myself, because I can't remember what was exactly in my mind, and the instructions don't quite work for me. No wonder you guys couldn't work it out! Is this what you were after Nathan? If not, clarify a little more and I'll have a go at it again. Sorry for that. Leopold Green
Thanks Ken - I don't know if that is what Nathan wanted but it is very helpful for me and I grateful for your time!
Dr. Nathan Parker
Hi Ken! Thanks for the video. It looks close to what I'm accomplishing, but I'm not 100% sure how you even did that on you end. Do you have to hold down a keystroke to get that to happen? I've attached a screenshot of what I'm trying to accomplish. Hope it helps. Thanks again for your assistance!
Graham Buck
There may be a slicker way to do this, but here is my attempt. Thompson.mp4.zip Open your text and Thompson. Tie them together Highlight a chain number and amplify to same resource (cmd-4) Move newly opened resources to it's own zone For any new search simply highlight the number again and use the amplify menu or simply cmd-4 to your heart's content [Edit]: I failed to put the original Thompson in parallel, like your example, but the steps are still the same, minus #2. Dr. Nathan Parker
OK great, so basically I just need to... 1. Open text and Thompson in Parallel 2. Highlight a chain number and press Command 4 3. Then keep pressing Command 4 each time I want to look something up? Thanks!
Graham Buck
As long as point 3 also involves first highlighting any number you want to search, then yes. That's exactly how you do it.
Dr. Nathan Parker
Great. I'll try it soon and let you know how it goes. Thanks a bunch!
Dr. Nathan Parker
It does work, but I notice something odd. Instead of it replacing the contents of the Thompson in its own zone (even though window recycling is turned on), it still opens another Thompson tab in the second zone. Is it supposed to do that? Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Nathan, Are both instances of the Thompson tab in the second zone searching the same field? Usually when a second tab opens it's because the new search is for a different field. I don't have Thompson, so I can't try to replicate what you are seeing. Dr. Nathan Parker
It's only searching the second tab that opens. I can post screenshots if that helps.
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
A screenshot would help. But also, let me clarify my question. Look at the field token in both of the Thompson tabs. This is the blue token in the search entry box. This tells you which field in the tool Accordance is set to. For example, field options in the NET Notes include Scripture, Reference, English Content, Greek Content, Hebrew Content, Transliteration, Manuscripts and Captions. Are the two field tokens in the two tabs the same?

Are the two field tokens in the two tabs the same? I see what you mean, and that works. The two field tokens were not the same. Closing the second resource, changing the field token, and trying it again worked. Thanks a ton for your help!
