Can't choose between user notes to edit

I think this would constitute a bug. At any rate it's certainly missing functionality ...

NB: I have three user note files, of which one I use 90% of the time and the others now and then

Scenario: Working in a text > click in a verse > cmd-U to edit user note > I get the edit window for the note file I use most of the time. Needless to say, that's just what I want on most occasions. But the problem comes if I do in fact want to edit one of my other user note files. There's no sub-menu anywhere allowing me to select the note file I want.

I've tried various things - e.g. open a pane with the user note I want to edit .. close and reopen the workspace .. etc. On one occasion I actually got one of the alternative user notes open (but it wasn't the one I wanted!). (That one-off occurrence in the middle of trying various things is one thing that suggests 'bug' to me. But I may be wrong.) I haven't been able to repeat that since.

If you uncheck the option to 'Reopen last notes file selected in dialog' in the User Notes preferences then it will always ask you which user notes file you wish to open and provide you with an option list. This, of course, does not automatically open the one you use most of the time and you always have to select the notes file you want. However I personally find it better than hoping the one I want will open.

You can also click in the Bible verse, and select the desired note file from the User Notes menu, then command-u or type in the note to edit it.

Thanks Steve & Helen.

Helen - I take it the menu you're referring to is the one in the resources pallette? I can see that now, thanks. But to express an opinion, it seems to me counter-intuitive to need to go to the pallette for this (and you'd need to open the pallette to do so, if not already open).

So I think I'll turn this into a feature request (move it to a different branch of the forum, maybe?): Where the user has more than one user notes file, I think the context menu item "Edit user note" should have a submenu so you can select the desired note file. That action should then give you the appropriate edit window ready to go.

You can also use the user notes heading under the 'Amplify' menu - that lists all notes files and then you do not need the resource palette open.

Ah, yes I see. Thanks for that :) That's probably what Helen was actually referring to.

I think I'll stick with my feature request, though. A context menu just makes for a slightly smoother workflow IMO.
