We have also started ranking our users by the number of posts, and promoting to Active Member those who post from now on. This is a transition phase so you can expect to see more changes in the next few days.

We will be updating the Forum software tonight. We are also working to reduce the plague of objectionable spam. For now we have started requiring moderator approval of new members, but this would be much easier if people would use their real names.

The fairly significant update has been completed. You may notice a lot of changes in quite a few areas, so please post any problems/comments/questions regarding the new look and functionality here.

We have now instituted moderation of new topics, which means that your new topic must be approved by a moderator before it is visible on the board. Once you are promoted to an Active Member, you will bypass this. Promotion happens automatically after a certain number of posts.
We apologise for the delays that this may cause, but we feel that we have no choice if we are to keep the Forum safe from the plague of spam posts. All our moderators will work to expedite the approval process as much as possible.

Having been the discoverer of at least one offensive spam, I am grateful to see the increased moderation. It protects the integrity of your purpose. It's sort of sad, but not entirely surprising that this is necessary.
