Hello

It where be nice if the Auto Link function in the User Tool support Chapters only too.

So at the moment we have to write for the whole chapters e.g. "Matt. 12:1-50, 13:1-58".

The Hand Link function works with "Matt. 12; 13" but the Auto Link not.

Thanks

Right on!

Also, when importing texts, whole chapters are ignored as links. That is an essential feature.

If you think not, try editing a lectionary where most of the links are whole chapters.

When using the auto link tool, it ignores references that use a period separator between chapter and verse.

That is a legal form of syntax elsewise and should work with the auto-link tool.

Peace!

Greg

Another issue/anomaly with Auto link occurs with references like this:

Psalm 10:1–6, 17–18

Auto link manages to link Psalm 10:1-6, 17  the -18 are not part of the auto link

Hello Lorinda

I had this issue sometimes too. And I have report It to Helen.

And I find out that it's urgent that the format through the whole link is the same. E.g. Psalm 10:1-6 will work but Psalm 10:1-6 or Psalm 10:1-6 or Psalm 10:3 etc. not.

Greetings

Fabian

Thanks, Fabian.  I thought the format was the same, but I'll watch for that next time.  (No time right now to make a test)

Let me add that it would be great to allow chapter/verse separators besides a colon.  I prefer to use a dot, and I know others use commas.

It is possible to use the dot separator - I do but it will not be recognized when one uses the auto-link button. I believe when linking manually or via import the dot is recognized also.

I might also that recognizing Roman numerals would be nice as well. Many older texts which I am using are formatted in that manner.

Peace!

Greg

Hello

Another Software can handle more different numerals, e. g. with the roman numerals. http://www.swordsear...references.html

For me it were a huge step forward if Accordance can handle the german numerals. At the moment I have a lot of work to change it.

And if Accordance support the Loccumer names and abbreviations.

Greetings

Fabian

Hi Fabian, call me completely ignorant (because sometimes I truly am) but what are the “german numerals”? I thought you used the Arabic numerals...

Hello Ken

Maybe I have take the false word. Sorry my german is much better than my english :)

Is the word notation the right, first I want to use them.

E.g. Mt 1,2.4; 5,6.23 this were in Accordance Matt. 1:2, 4; 5:6, 23 the problem is when the verse numbering has more than one verse. With seek and replace I have to control every verse numbering. While the comma has in both different functions.

The best solution I have, If I change first the comma to £ with a number e.g 1£ then 2£ and so on, and then from 1$$ to 1: and so on. Most it works but not always fine.

Greetings

Fabian

Yes Fabian, thanks. Sorry it was just my ignorance. European notation for referencing is supported, at least it seems to be for me...

So if I copy and paste your example I get

Matt 1,2.4; 5,6.23

i.e. Matthew 1:2, Matthew 1:4, Matthew 5:6 and Matthew 5:23. While I am no expert in European verse referencing, isn't this correct?

Hello Ken

Yes: If I write direct in the search field.

No: As User Tool Auto Link (The topic of this post)

And If I do it in the old way, then Accordance shows for Matt 1,2.4; 5,6.23 false result.

1. with the magnifying glass on Matt 1 it comes the whole Matt 1 and not Matt 1, 2 (Matt 1:2)

2. dito on the 2.4 then it comes Matt 2:4 instead of Matt 1:2, 4

3. dito on 5 then it comes Matt 2:5

4. dito on 6.23 then comes Matt 6:23 instead of Matt 5:23

You can see above how Accordance does the underline and so it makes the verses, but for the german notation it is complete incorrect.

So it would be good if Accordance support the Loccumer abbr. and support the german notation.

Earlier I have search and replace the german notation to the Accordance, but I found out I have it to do not with the automatic function, because the full text was every time destroyed. And to correct needs more time.

Conclusion: To import german Notes with german notation in to the User Tool, don't make me happy, and to change all, was in the last time, my time killer. So I gave it up. For me at the Moment a nice feature but absolutely useless.

Greetings

Fabian
