I discovered a trick to get one widget at a time on the desktop.
F12 for Dashboard.
+ sign for the widgets.
Drag the (Accordance)-widget out of the row.
Now keep the mouse pressed and press F12 again
Voilą, now you have a widget on your desktop!
Widget on desktop? That is possible.

There is also a program called Amnesty widget browser that lets you put widgets on your desktop, or floating, etc.
But You should check out the Accordance Quicksilver scripts (look for it on the forum by Joe Weaks). With all do respect to Accordance and the widget, the Quicksilver actions are way lightning fast and have more abilities.

The Accordance Widget is great, and it really is beautifully done. And, it is only because of the work that OakTree put in on the widget that the Quicksilver Actions are made possible. With all do respect to Accordance and the widget, the Quicksilver actions are way lightning fast and have more abilities.
I do think the Mac world has realized that Widgets come at a huge overhead cost in terms of system resources, and hardly seem worth it. I put a direct link to the the Quicksilver Actions for Accordance at the top of the menu of The Macintosh Biblioblog.
