I placed my order for Leopard today. I was disappointed that the academic price was $116 when it has usually been around $79 in the past.

Im game. This will be my first OS update since I switched to mac in november. I wish I could do a dual upgrade of leopard and Accordance with universal binary...hint hint

Amazons price actually dropped. I pre-ordered it in June I think. It was $129 on amazon. I had to cancel my order and re-order it just now so I could get the lesser price.Amazon has Leopard for $109. Also, educational institutions will have it for $69 for their students. You just can't get that price online.

FYI for those who "pre-ordered" from Amazon: If your original order included the "Price Guarantee" you should be getting the lower price without having to cancel and re-order.

Just not at MY institution. There are a lot more Macs on campus than there used to be, but there's still a prevalent Windows mindset for the time being.

Thats what I thought, but viewing my order status it did not reflect that. Im sure if I contacted support they would change it for me, but it was just as easy to cancel and reorder.FYI for those who "pre-ordered" from Amazon: If your original order included the "Price Guarantee" you should be getting the lower price without having to cancel and re-order.
I forgot I got a government employee discount from apple which put the price right about amazons and Ill get it on the release date of the 26th, so I went that route.

Does OakTree have any advice for potential Leopard early-adopters and Accordance?

We are running 7.3 successfully on beta versions of Leopard with only cosmetic problems with the tabs in the workspace. We will correct these for version 7.4 which we expect to release next month. Therefore we will appreciate any bug reports that intrepid early adopters do find with 7.3 and Leopard.

Since this is my first upgrade on a mac I have a question to those who have upgraded their OS in the past. Do most tend to install the upgrade over the previous OS or do a clean wipe and install fresh then put all their apps back on.
Yes, all you really have to do is install the upgrade over your current OS. The install will update your software and get rid of old stuff for you. I've been using OS X ever since the beta in 2000, and I've never had a problem with an upgrade. However, I think it was the Jaguar release (or was it Panther?) in which for some unknown reason, attached firewire drives were erased. They fixed this later on, but if it happened to you, it didn't matter because your stuff was gone! So it's best to always have any external drives or accessories disconnected from your Mac before you run an update. And do a thorough backup ahead of time. I plan on backing up my personal files on Thursday.

GREAT ADVICE. BTW whoever doesn't backup on a normal frequency should never complain. You might as well be at the casino, since you are just playing the odds........ you run an update. And do a thorough backup ahead of time. I plan on backing up my personal files on Thursday.
And another easy solution is to wait a few days after the latest release before you update in order to stay off the bleeding edge. Watch the Mac internet sites for comments about difficulties or bugs.

While I would love to join you by jumping in head first, out here in Indonesia we have to wait until December before our Apple Authorized Retailer (iBox) is even scheduled to get it. If it is anything like iWork 08 and iLife 08 it will be a month after that. I look forward to hearing what you Accordance users think about the upgrade!

I wonder if Accordance is working on taking advantage of these new features.
