I use a very large file (360 megabytes) in a My Tools format. In the last version it would crash. This version gives me several different error messages error message, but doesn't crash. It still is not working, though it is an improvement not to crash.

Have you tried creating a new blank tool and importing this one into it? That should clean it up if anything is corrupt, but preserve your formatting as far as possible.

I redid it, using a text file. It tok nearly 24 hours for the computer to import this into Accordance (I assume this was indexing it). Searches are instantaneous, however the Scripture texts no longer show up in blue and search results are not highlighted.

There are no more error messages, but the program did crash, simply disappeared, after a couple large searches. I ave not reproduced this yet, but I think it may have suddenly crashed and vanished when my mouse pointer went from the window to the finder while attempting to scroll (since it has happened only once, that may not be it at all.)

There is a bug in the Scripture links of User Tools in the Universal version of 8. We are fixing it, but in the meantime you can import or update it in Rosetta to avoid the problem.

User Tools are really not meant for very large files, so I am not sure what is happening, but anything that takes 24 hours to import is, IMHO, way too big. None of our actual tool modules (except those with many images) are anywhere near that size. You should break it up into manageable sections, and create a Search All group if you want to search the entire thing at once.

I've been fussing with some of my User Tools and have come across some problems with Scripture links using v. 8. Any idea of how soon a fix might be? I think I can do without for the time being, but may want to pursue the Rosetta solution.

I was wondering what would be the recommended maximum size for a User Tool. Looking at my assorted tools, the largest file I currently have is 408K, but it may grow substantially over time.

408k is nothing compared to 360 MB, you don't need to worry.

Download the ppc version of 8 and run it to create and correct the Scripture links. All references in the one section of the tool are corrected if you make any change that requires an update. Change your preferences to a Large block size and you will have fewer sections to update. The next release is a few days away.

THANK YOU for the update to v. 8.0.1. My Scripture link issues in my primary user tool have been resolved!
