I just got my new Mighty Mouse in the mail today. The scroll ball is very nice and has some of the smoothest response I've ever seen in a mouse.
One of the first applications I wanted to try out the mouse with was the Accordance Atlas. The scroll ball seems absolutely made for such an application.
But alas, the scroll ball did not work with the Atlas. The map would only move up and down, even when I moved the scroll ball from side to side.
I hope that this is a feature that will be looked into for a future update. The two seem made to go together.

Side to side scrolling is only supported under OS X 10.4.2+, not 10.4 or 10.4.1, and of course, you must install the provided software driver from the CD. I haven't seen anything that suggests it only works for Cocoa apps, as opposed to Carbon.
I'm guessing the driver is simulating a right mouse gesture on the horizontal scroll bar/axis (since I have yet to see or try one, I'm dependent on the gazillion reviews already online of MM, one of which says think "etch-a-sketch" for the diagonal scrolling feature).

Oh, I have everything current (OS X.4.2 and Accordance 6.7). And the side to side scrolling DOES work in other applications.
