I would like to see a double-click shortcut added where if the user double-clicks in the tab bar in an empty space, a new text tab is opened (same functionality as command-n). This behavior would be consistent with what happens in Safari and Firefox when a user double-clicks in the tab bar.

I second that.

Nice job on 8.1.1. Love the Check for Updates feature.
