I was recently challenged to make better use of the fantastic resources I have available to me in my accordance library in a thread on the forums. In the process of starting to dig into the tools in my library, I used the amplify to workspace functionality shared in the accordance blog. While digging into some of these resources I found myself really wanting to take some "margin notes" on the tools themselves.

It would be (yet another) fantastic feature if I could create a user notes file on a tool that allows me to refer to other tools and texts as well as within the tool.

The lack of this feature has kept me from purchasing the electronic version of a few tools and it stops me every time I look at a new tool resource and wonder if I would want to take "notes in the margin" and point to other tools.

Thanks!

Mike

While it doesn't directly address your question, Accordance 8 has greatly expanded linking functionality in user tools.

EDIT Sorry, I just now saw your previous plea.

Until we can do this for User Notes, why don't you create a User Tool with all your links. It can have a verse reference to help you find the section, or a key word that you mention in the User Notes.

This is neat stuff here, I see a lot of potential.

I've just tried editing my first User Tool to implement some of the demonstration links you provided in the blog entry. When I highlight the bracketed information and select "Make Link", I then have a blue (hyperlinked) version of the exact string literal I typed in. It *does* run the query when clicked, but it does not give instant details.

Is it possible to a) replace the string literal with another piece of text that masks the parameters in normal view (as one would do between two <a> tags in HTML) and B) get instant details based on the lookup? Am I just doing it wrong or is this not implemented? Since the target module is explicitly defined, instant details might be reasonably straightforward. Cleaning up the module view of hyperlink clutter interests me as much if not more.

Thanks!
Chris

Sorry, Instant Details is only implemented for the Scripture links. I think there would be quite major technical problems in making it work for any link.
