I am wondering if there will be a time when my notes could be edited right inside the view window (when I add it as a pane) This would be so convenient. Thanks.

For the foreseeable future, both Notes and User Tools can only be edited in the Edit window. However, you only need to click in the text and start typing, or press command-u, to open that window to the desired place.
