[Greek/Hebrew] Ever considered learning a biblical language? Accordance's resources can be a big help—and our software has the right features to allow you to take advantage of that knowledge. The podcast surveys the Greek and Hebrew basic grammars available in Accordance. It also describes how to make custom reader's guides to improve your reading speed.

I noticed Pratico-Van Pelt listed in your Library window. Is that resource in the pipeline?

EDIT: Well, having watched an additional 60 seconds of the podcast, my question is answered.

It is complete and awaiting final approval, but I asked for special permission to include it in this podcast in advance of its formal release. It just fit the topic of this 'cast so perfectly.

I know some of you have been waiting for it for awhile. Your patience will soon be rewarded. It will be out in a matter of weeks.

I'm also looking forward to Practico-Van Pelt Hebrew Grammar too. The audio aids on reading the Hebrew especially interest me.

Glad the Pratico is coming soon. He was my Hebrew prof at GCTS. It was a long summer and I never would have made it without his patience and expertise!

  • Interests:Bible Study...I am an active member of KI (Chuck Missler ) and seek to understand and apply the Bible to my life...I bought Accordance to help with my original language studies..I would like to be able to understand what the writers meant to say (I realize there are multiple meanings in the same verses)..not just depend on a translation...

Hi everyone,

I too am looking forward to Van Pelt & Pratico Grammar for Accordance...I just "finished" the complete book (I will be at a "baby level" because I do not memorize..that is why I purchased Accordance)....and his teaching/audios via Teknia.com was outstanding....my recommendation if you are going the "audio" "by yourself" route like I did is to buy "Charts Of Biblical Hebrew" so you can better follow the lectures and print out the charts (he uses these as overheads and refers to them in the tapes...the book comes with a CD..the CD has all the charts on it).....Both Mounce & VanPelt are outstanding teachers (even though I have never met them or been in a "real class")....they are both very knowledge, excited about the subject they are teaching and keep the "class" moving...

Has someone (professor, student, perhaps both) had experience with Ross, Pratico-VanPelt, Waltke? What I am looking for is a critique by someone who has used two or three of these texts and can compare and contrast them. What are the advantages, strengths, weaknesses of each. Especially pertinent would be the "best choice" for self learning as portrayed in this podcast.

Thanks in advance!

Michael

I've used Pratico-Van Pelt (BBH) and Waltke-O'Connor (IBHS). The former is a beginning grammar suitable for self-paced learning, college, or seminary; the latter an advanced grammar focusing on syntax, typically used by 3rd year students in seminary, or in grad school.

BBH is integrated into the Accordance platform with hyperlinks to frequency counts in the BHS text for most all of the vocab, and audio recordings of each vocab word as well. Of our current beginning Hebrew grammars it is the best suited for self-learning in Accordance. Hope to have it released within a week or two.

Thanks for your remarks Rick. I too would have used the "Pick a product" discount had Pratico-Van Pelt been available in April. Oh well...

Thanks for a great product that is always getting better!

Michael
