I'm not at home now, my Mac and my iPhone are both connected to the same wireless network in college, but they don't see each other. Probably this is how it is set up. The side effect is that I can't update user modules on iPhone. If I could use USB cable, it wouldn't be a problem…

It is often easiest and fastest to set up a temporary "computer-to-computer" wireless network. This Apple Document (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3771) describes how to do this. Both sets of Help files mention this.
