I used Migration Assistant to pull Accordance files from a retired MBP to a new machine. Every time I try to start Accordance, I get a warning that says, “The file ‘.fdr54j38a’ cannot be modified, because write permission has been denied. The write permission for this file may be changed by opening ‘Get Info’ in the Finder.”

 

I'm running OS X 10.8.2, 16 Gb of RAM and about 200 Gb of HD space.

 

When I go from root level>Library>Application Support, there is no Accordance directory (!). When I go to my user directory, there is no Library or Application Support directories.

This is a common problem after migration.

 

Open the Go menu in the Finder and press the option key to see the user Library folder (in Lion/Mountain Lion). (Tip: I then make an alias of that folder.)

 

Then you need to Get Info on Application Support/Accordance and reset its permissions and those of its contents.

Much appreciation for a quick response. I understand how this would resolve my problems if I could find the proper directory. 

 

I **think** I've attempted to follow your instructions. From root level the directories are Macintosh HD/Users/Home Folder/Library/Application Support. But there is no folder for Accordance inside. I see folders for dozens of other apps, but none for Accordance.

Bill - If you go back far enough with Accordance, the folder may be at HD/Library/Application Support.  That's where my Accordance folder used to be.  I ended up dragging and dropping it into User/Library/Application Support.  If you are the only user on your machine, it would be better there.  Helen had said that we're more likely to run into permissions issues when the folder is installed at root level.

Many thanks. It's up and running again. It worked fine for several weeks, then the permission issue raised its ugly little head.
