I am joining this discussion late, but thought I'd share my thoughts.

 

Yes, I'd recommend upgrading to Accordance 10's Starter Collection. The program is significantly better and the collection includes a lot of things that Starter 9 does not. Specifically, it includes Eerdmans Bible Dictionary (which has already been mentioned) and the Mounce Greek and M/K Hebrew dictionaries. These two original language dictionaries are far better than Strong's, especially if you are going to be focusing on the Greek. In addition, I'd encourage you to purchase the Mounce Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (http://www.accordanc...unce Expository). It's only $29.99 and it is well-integrated into the two basic lexicons I already mentioned.

 

Even better, consider purchasing the Mounce Greek Study System for Accordance (http://www.accordanc...ounce System-10). At $159.99 (it's on sale now), I imagine it will be less expensive than taking a class somewhere. Besides, it includes his expository dictionary [already mentioned] and his really helpful translation of the NT.

 

NIDNTT is good, as are the UBS Handbooks for the NT. However, if you are just learning Greek you may find them both a bit overwhelming.

 

All these tools are for biblical (Koiné) Greek, which is quite a bit different from classical Greek. Personally, I'd recommend starting with biblical Greek. It's much easier and the tools are considerably less expensive.

I've changed my mind about NIDNTT, currently I think I would like to have Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament. http://www.accordancebible.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7356

I don't think I want to pay $28 shipping just to get Eerdmans! See email conversation below.

Hi Unix, the Eerdman's Bible Dictionary should come as a free module when you upgrade to 10. At least that's my understanding (along with others like the ESV with Strong's)

I like the NIDNTT and find it very usefull. I would pay for that resource.
