I'd not bumped up against this limitation until this evening. In the process of creating a User Tool with notes from a study, I wanted to set a non-biblical text as the default and/or alternate text for textual links in the tool. Specifically, the Apostolic Fathers (AFL-E or AFL-T). Evidently this isn't possible as only biblical texts are available from the pull-down menu in the Set Tool Display preference panel.

Here's my request:

1. The ability to specify a non-biblical text for the default hyperlink in a User Tool. This would be especially helpful for someone studying one of the many non-biblical texts available in Accordance.

2. If the above is possible and reasonable to implement, the ability to specify a biblical text as the default and a non-biblical text as the alternate (or vice versa). In other words, the ability to specify texts from two difference corpuses for the default and alternate hypertexts. This is actually what I originally was hoping to be able to do this evening.

Thanks!

You do know that you can set up a specific link from a User Tool to any text or tool? Simply create a tab where the search entry gives you the passage you want, and choose Copy as User Tool Link from the Edit menu: Copy as or the right-click menu in the entry box. The paste the link, e.g.: [AFL-E, V, Barn 19:5].

Thanks Helen, I hadn't thought about using that kind of link for a text (use it all the time to link to tools). This does work and is sufficient for what I'm currently doing. However, I still think it would be nice to be able to specify non-biblical texts as the default and alternate hyperlink texts. It's much more elegant and less clunky for someone needing to make numerous links to a non-biblical text.

By the way, the User Tool feature is one of my favorite in Accordance. While I find myself bumping up against its limitations every now and then, it's incredibly useful to be able to fully integrate my notes into Accordance's search capabilities, easily amplify to them from a text or tool, and even import books not available for purchase in Accordance.

Thanks!
