mlwhitehead
I cannot even start Accordance 10.2.4. When I click on the icon it bouncees a few times, then stops... it never displays a window, never even registers with Finder as an open application. I have downloaded and re-installed the software from the "My Products" page on the Accordance website... did not fix the problem. I'm running the latest version, latest MacOS, and on a new Mac. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm currently in Afghanistan, with very limited internet capacilities on my Mac. P.S. Helen: Thanks for the attempt at helping earlier... I think the connection problem was on my end. Edited August 24, 2013 by mlwhitehead

Jonathan C. Borland
Hi Matthew, I'm very sorry that happened. I just updated two computers today to 10.2.4 (from 10.1.7) and everything worked fine. I'm sure the Accordance team will help solve the issue promptly. I know they're dealing with updates to run on many different OS versions at once (10.6,7,8 etc.), but sometimes I think their update note should read something like this: * Introduced some new features. * Fixed some bugs. * Introduced some new ones. * Please help us weed out new bugs as quickly as possible, as it's impossible for our beta testers to click on every one of our millions of incredibly awesome functions, since if we waited on them to do so, we would never have any new releases. Sincerely, Jonathan C. Borland
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Have you tried removing your default session?
prmills
Have you tried removing your default session? How do I do that, the program won't start! Here is my Accordance startup screen: "Accordance cannot be opened because of a startup problem."
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Try the instructions here, if you can't find your library folder, go to the Finder, hold down the option key while choosing the Go menu, and you should see Library on the list. I removed the startup and temporary, but there is no change. Same start up message!
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
What startup message? I don't see one mentioned above. Try moving the entire Accordance Preferences folder to the desktop. Does that help?
prmills
It did not help. I get a crash message at startup: "Accordance cannot be opened because of a startup problem." I have tried to paste the message into the forum here, but can't.
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Now I see you posted the error message earlier. Sorry I missed it. If you haven't done so already, I would try restarting your Mac. If that doesn't do it, i would try downloading the installer from the My Products page of the Accordance website and reinstalling. I know that did not help others above, but the don't report an error message, so you may be dealing with a different issue.
Helen Brown
If Accordance just bounces in the dock it could be a permissions issue. You would need to go to user/Library/Application Support/Accordance and reset the permissions on that folder and its contents, to give yourself read/write permission. However, there are so many variables that it really is best to let someone see your computer and look for anomalies. I don't know what the Startup error message is for. You can try renaming the Accordance Preferences: General, and also the Documents: Accordance Files: User Notes and Highlights as these get loaded at startup. If you cannot connect to us via internet, send us a phone number and a time to call. We will do so wherever and whenever you want.
prmills
I used a saved copy of 10.2.3. Re-updated to 10.2.4. Works fine. I think there must have been an error in the first download. All's well that ends well.

I had tried the permissions the other night, but I didn't include the contents. For the sake of others, when you have the Finder "Get Info" window open and you change permissions, you will need to click the little gear icon at the bottom of the "Get Info" window to extend the changes to folder's entire contents. Thank you!
