Is there a hotkey for updating after I make a notes entry, so that I don't have to click on "update"? I know it's piddly, but it would save me time (enough that I can justify taking time to write this :)) when I am working on entire passages and making notes on each verse.

You can use the "Enter" button next to the command key on the right side of the keyboard on an iBook, and over on the 10-key number pad on the Apple keyboard for desktops.

In version 7 you can also option-click the down arrow to update and add a new note to the next verse.
