Surface Pro 3 Pen With My Acer Aspire R7

A few weeks back, I ordered the Surface Pro 3 pen to try with my Acer Aspire R7-572. I was shocked that it was shipped overnight and it arrived today. I guess Microsoft thought my pen was just as important as those who had ordered those Surface Pro 3s that were shipped out to arrive today.

The Surface Pro 3 pen uses the same N-trig technology as my R7, so I assumed they'd be compatible.

Having received it, I can already tell that this will be my pen of choice. It's a little bit heavier as well as longer, which gives it a nice balance in the hand.

There's one big distinction, though. With the Surface Pro 3, the button on the top of the pen will launch OneNote, even launching it while the SP3 is asleep--allowing for quick notes without even logging in. It can do this because in addition to the AAAA battery, just as in my pen for the R7, there are two tiny #319 watch batteries that allow for a Bluetooth connection.

I did pair the R7 via Blutooth, but even in doing so, it's a Bluetooth connection to nowhere. It shows up as connected, but tapping the top button does not launch OneNote like on the Surface Pro 3. Nor will it wake the R7 up from sleep.

I'd love to see some hacks that would give this button some kind of functionality. Perhaps that will happen.

Not certain, Marcika. Although I do still have Acer R7, I don’t have that Surface pen anymore. A friend of mine using a Surface lost his pen, so I gave him mine. In the long run, I’ve just stuck with the pen from Acer, which has always worked just fine.

Don't really know if this is right but please correct me if I am wrong in making this announcement. I would rather sell this here in this forum to someone who I believe will enjoy with their Accordance program. I own a Microsoft pro 3 with a nice leather case and keypad but to be honest I don't do justice to it even though I have Accordance on it and it runs just like a desktop. I seem to catch myself looking at my phone more often. With that being said I am looking into getting an iPad 9.7 which I believe would be more convenient for me. The surface pro is plush and everything with it, for anyone on this forum I will let it go for 225 and you would have to pay for shipping and handling. If anyone has any questions concerning the pro and it's specs message me and if I am wrong in posting this forgive in advance.
