applying citation from Russian text results in Hebrew instead!

Can anyone help with this question?

I am trying to copy text from the Russian Bible with the "copy as Citation" command and yet when I paste this from the clipboard into a document it appears to be Hebrew Text that is being copied and pasted!!

I would really appreciate a fix to this, as I need / use the feature.

I believe that I am using the latest update of Accordance vs 10 on a Mac Maverick OSX.

Interesting, it’s not behaving as I think it should. Seems to be messing up the unicode export, though I am not getting anything that looks like a Hebrew text. (Are you using the Russian Synodal Bible?) What are you pasting into?

Here is the Copy as Citation I get... (all in v 11.0.2, pasting into Mellel)

Here it is as a plain copy.

Having said that, I am sure that this particular issue is fixed in the currently testing 11.0.3 coming soon.

I’d like to gently encourage you to upgrade to v11 though. I can’t answer for whether there will be a fix coming to v10 for this issue.

Thanks Ken, you are right that it is NOT pasting Hebrew on my end, (I was pretty tired when I wrote this and looked checked the text....I cannot imagine WHAT made me think that it is Hebrew!)

In any event, Yes I am using the Synodal Russian Bible, the RST, and I have the same result that you posted.

I have been tempted to upgrade to vs 11, yet what particular things stand out to you about this new version such that it is such a must?

Well, I am sure that others will want to chime in, but for me:

1. The info pane - brilliant addition to be able to quickly see some basic information about a verse, and what resources you have that deal with the verse, and the improving topics database.

2. Research search (used to be search all) is substantially improved in speed, accuracy and display of results.

3. Combined tools. e.g. I have combined WBC OT and NT into a single tool so that anywhere that I go in the Bible I have a comment on a verse.

4. The new library organisation is much nicer. Easier to find resources and is much more customiseable than previously.

5. The new notes are looking really good. The improved formatting options and implementation of Unicode makes them a really useful part of Accordance - and they are on the improve!

6. Did I mention the topic database? :-) and the ability to search by topics.

7. Text suggestions as you type into the search entry box so you can just select from the drop down menu and choose a word or a command. Find it quite useful!

They are the ones I use and can think of off the top of my head. You can find a full list of the improvements here.

Oh, and that Unicode issue you pointed out in your OP is fixed :-)

Brian - as a workaround, if you go the Preferences -> Citation and change your content marks from smart quotes (“ and ”) to dumb quotes ( " ), I believe it will properly paste for you as well.

Thanks very much, both of you! I suppose that I will simply upgrade now and be done with the issues. Thanks, Ken, for the list of preferred-to-date additions! And Joel, I appreciate the workaround!

Well, I finally got the time to upgrade, (still no time to explore the differences / improvements though!). I am still having the same issues with text being exported as unicode rather than the language.

Joel, I also tried your work around and nothing has helped. I can only suppose that I am missing something somewhere, and would really appreciate getting this figured out!

If anyone can help with resolving this or educating me on my error I would be grateful!

Brian

Hi Brian, the fixed version (11.03) is still in beta testing. I am sure it will come soon, but just for now, it’s not fixed in 11.02. Be a patient just a little longer. Enjoy all the other benefits of v11.

If you need something urgently I can send it to you. Are you pasting into Word by the way?

Actually, I prefer to use MarkDown and I am using ByWord primarily. I do not have MS office for Mac, and do not really intend to if I can continue avoiding it!

Thanks for the heads up on the coming fixes. Right now my time is pretty pressed, so I am not using Accordance as much as usual. hopefully the fix comes along at about the time that I am preparing for the next series. (Just finishing teaching through Biblical Fasting, –a tremendous study in the Scriptures!)
