How would you do this search "LORD" in KJV

I have a Mormon friend and you might not know that they are pretty interested in the OT.

His question to me (after I showed him my snazzy new software) was:

What is the underlying word behind "LORD" in the KJV in Isaiah?

The search wasn't hard but getting the right analytics was a bit confusing.

I wanted a document that had the total number of key numbers at the top, followed by a heading with the key number and the related verses below it.

It was very clumsy and I'm SURE that there must be a better way than I did it.

I ended up searching each key number separately and copying the verses into "Pages" (the mac word app)and doing a lot of hand formatting.

Any good tips for doing something as simple as this as streamlined as possible?

Maybe even a podcast hint hint?

I am not sure if this is suitable for you or not.... I set the range to Isaiah only turned on the interlinear and asked for an analysis window to come up.

-Dan

PS: I removed some of the interlinear settings leaving just the numbers and choose copy as interlinear to get the following results....

Is. 1:18 (KJVS) Come now and let us reason together saith the Lord

Key H3212 H3198 H0559 H3068

though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as

H2399 H8144

white as snow though they be red like crimson they shall

H3835 H7950 H0119 H8438

be as wool

H6785

Is. 1:20 (KJVS) But if ye refuse and rebel ye shall be devoured

Key H3985 H4784 H0398

with the sword for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken

H2719 H6310 H3068 H1696

it

Is. 1:24 (KJVS) Therefore saith the Lord the Lord of hosts the mighty

Key H5002 H0113 H3068 H6635 H0046

One of Israel Ah I will ease me of mine adversaries

H3478 H1945 H5162 H6862

and avenge me of mine enemies

H5358 H0341

Is. 1:28 (KJVS) And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners

Key H7667 H6586 H2400

shall be together and they that forsake the Lord shall be

H3162 H5800 H3068

consumed

H3615

Please note this is less than ideal but should accomplish your desired goal I think.

I am going to assume you wanted "Lord" capitalized, so I used the following search argument: =Lord [RANGE Isaiah]

I chose Analysis from Analytics and adjusted the display to Count Down. Here is the result:

Thanks Dan,

I actually did that at the start but after getting the analysis I needed a verse list separated by Key number, that was the hard part.

Yes, that's what I needed but the part that stumped me was getting the verses into a word doc with each key word as a heading.

That's when I had to do a separate search for each key number.

If there were a "send results to reference tab" with an option to "sort by key word with heading" that would have done it for me big time.

I think what you want is the combination of the concordance and analysis outputs. This I believe has come up before. Concordance output does not contain the transliteration or Hebrew/Greek work but can contian the key number. It also does not sort by key, but it gives you the verse reference and short except. I believe you could stitch them together with a script or spreadsheet macro.

ANALYSIS (as above from Tim):

Total number of verses = 418
(total number of verses displayed = 418)

Lord [Flex] (485 total words)

Number of different forms = 12:

H0113 ’adown, ’adon ‏אָדוֹן, אָדֹן‎ = 9
lord = 1
Lord = 6
lord’s = 1
lords = 1
H0136 ’Adonay ‏אֲדֹנָי‎ = 48
lord = 1
Lord = 46
Lord = 1 (with H3068)
H1167 ba‘al ‏בַּעַל‎ = 1
lords = 1
H3050 Yahh ‏יָהּ‎ = 4
Lord = 4
H3068 Yhwh ‏יְהוָֹה = 424
Lord = 417
Lord’s = 6
Lord = 1 (with H136)

CONCORDANCE (not all of it - I stripped some out):

lord (2)
Is. 19:4 will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; H113
Is. 21:8 My lord, I stand continually upon the H136

Lord (53)
Is. 1:24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts H113
Is. 3:1 behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts H113
Is. 3:15 saith the Lord GOD of hosts. H136
Is. 3:17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab H136
Is. 3:18 In that day the Lord will take away the H136
Is. 4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the H136
Is. 6:1 died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a H136
Is. 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying H136
Is. 6:11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he H136
Is. 7:7 Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand H136
Is. 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a H136
Is. 7:20 same day shall the Lord shave with a razor H136
Is. 8:7 the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters H136
Is. 9:8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it H136
Is. 9:17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their H136
Is. 10:12 that when the Lord hath performed his H136
Is. 10:16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts H113
the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send H136+3068

Now both of these pane can be save in a form that is easy to pull into a spreadsheet, but I agree it would simplify life if these functions could be combined.

Thx

Yes, I think that would work just fine!

I appreciate you continuing with this....that really helps.

Ok..this worked great for me! I pasted into a table and problem solved!

Except...one question:

H3050 doesn't show in the concordance no matter what I do but it shows in the analysis.

Any idea why?

EDITED TO ADD: Yes, they do...they are just buried (visually) in the H3060 results and my old eyes didn't detect them!)

Thanks everyone for the help..this is working great for me as I get used to Accordance.
