Greetings,

I'm new to the software and was previously using Logos. I want to know how I can create the following two lists:

List A: All Greek vocabulary found in Hebrews through Revelation, not including any word that occurs 11 times or more in the NEW TESTAMENT.

List B: All Greek verb forms that occur in Hebrews through Revelation as they occur in NA28.

Then an additional question I have relates to exporting such lists. Does Accordance have the ability to export to a notecard or excel file or some other format?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome Brandon!

First q -  [COUNT 1-11] [RANGE Heb-Rev]

then “Word Count” => “Analysis” using the little graph icon that appears just above the text

This list can then be cut and pasted into anything (perfectly into excel for example) lr it can be saved by the entry in the file menu "Save text selection"

Q 2

Remove the Count 1-11 parameter so you are just left with the range command, but add an [VERB] and a space before it

[VERB]  [RANGE Heb-Rev]

This hits all the verbs in the chosen range.

If you haven’t closed your analysis tab, that should then change to reflect the new search (once the search is performed)

Then click in the analysis window and select the Display menu (at the top of the screen/window) and the first element - Set Analysis Display. This sheet should drop down

Ddrag the INFLECT item from the left section into the spot just beneath the LEX item.

Press OK and the entire list of the forms of all the verbs in the range. sorted by lemma.

Enjoy and ask away!

Ken,

Thank you so much! I will give this a try. Can you clarify one thing for me?

When you type in "[COUNT 1-11] [RANGE Heb-Rev]" does that provide all the words that occur 11 times or less in all of NA28 that are also found in Hebrews-Revelation? OR is that all the words that occur 11 times or less within the limited range of Hebrews to Revelation only? I really need the former. So for example, if a word occurs 20 in the NT, but only 10 times Hebrews-Revelation, it would not need to be included on the list. Does that make sense?

Thanks again for the help and clarification.

Hi ya,

  Welcome.

The different ways to work with [COUNT ?] are explained here http://accordancefil...Highlight=count.

The way Ken did the search the count is over the whole text and the results then are constrained to those words occurring in the range you asked for. I believe this is what you want given what you say above.

You can also double-check this by comparing results from searches with the ranges defined in the query and in the pop-up menu and without any range specification, that is, over the whole GNT.

Thx

D

Thanks guys...This has been a very valuable forum for me.

One more question (I think).

Daniel, when you say "the count is over the whole text," am I right to assume you mean the whole NT? And then the range command pulls out those words that also occur in the range, right?

Yes that's correct.

Strictly it could apply to any text (whatever you are searching) but yes in your case the Greek NT.

And then the [RANGE ?] command restricts the results of that search, Yes.

Thx

D

Just for the record, if you set the range in the pop-up menu (after clicking the + to add more options), then the count and the range both cover the same range, so that a count of 1-11 in Hebrews to Rev finds words that occur this many times within those books,
