Sermon Notes & Outlines in Accordance

Do any of you have a method of attaching sermon outlines to a text in Accordance?

I was thinking it would be useful to have a tool sort of like the "Outlines of Bible Books" tool, but user-defined, so that I might go to Matthew 5:2, and find a conference message outline on that verse, and maybe one from church where it was Point one of the sermon, and I could scroll through the different outlines that I have taken notes on.

I have attempted making a User Tool with some outlines, but I couldn't get the text to link to parts of the document. I was able to create a link for 1 John 5:6-9, but when I was in my text at 1 John 5:6, I couldn't amplify to it.

So just wondering if any of you have attempted something like this and have experienced success.

Thanks

Good question!

A User Note works fine, provided the sermon only addresses a single verse or passage. Otherwise, I'd recommend using a User Tool and just inserting a Note at the verse reference(s) that a sermon is located at such-and-such a place or on such-and-such a Tool. Note that a User Tool can use a local link to point to a file on your local hard drive, say a file in your sermon folder (which can then be written with any word processor).

From Accordance Help>User Tools>Create Links:

A link to a file on the hard disk or another attached disk or drive is similar to a link in a browser such as: file:///Users/myname/Documents/pics/temple.tiff

We are continuing to add features to our User Notes and Tools, so I trust this process will become easier as time goes by. Stay tuned!

Dr. J,

Thanks for the tip. I was able to successfully make a link to a PDF file of a scanned book. This is awesome. I tried it in a user note (where I would prefer to use the link) but evidently that is a future feature. :)

Thanks Dr. J. That should be helpful. I was wondering about how to get a .pdf file into Accordance earlier today even, and was searching the help. I have a syllabus that has a comprehensive outline of Colossians, and would love to be able to reference that directly from Accordance. I wonder if it would be possible to tag specifically to the individual pages for the verses I'm studying (the .pdf is a rather large and unruly document).

Thanks again for your reply and interaction.
