danjbrendel
I want to create my own topical index by highlighting my electronic Accordance Bible with different colors, according to my highlighting system. That way I could filter everything I have identified as having to do with, say, "mission of God," or "women in the Bible." However, as I have been experimenting with this, it seems the process of filtering by "search"/"enter command"/"style," only returns highlights of two or more whole verses. If I highlight single verses, or only portions of a single verse, these are not returned. For example, in Mt 1:5 I want to highlight the single words "Rahab" and "Ruth" in pink, because that is my color code for the topic of "women in the Bible." But if I do that and then search for that style, Mt 1:5 is not returned. Even if I highlight the entire verse 5 in pink (which I don't want to do, because the whole verse doesn't have only to do with women in the Bible), the same search still won't return it. I only get search results if I highlight two or more entire verses. And I definitely don't want to do that, because more germane to Mt 1:5-6 is the part about King David, which maybe I want to highlight in my color for the topic "Messiah," but without necessarily having to forgo the part about "women in the Bible." This two-or-more-verses-only limitation makes creating my own topical index on Accordance unviable. Thanks for any help/ideas!
Steve King
I do not appear to have this problem. I have a style "In Christ (Union With)" which displays all verses that I have highlights on including those that only have the words 'in Christ' highlighted. I search using 'STYLE In Christ (Union With)' and I get all the verses displayed. How are you searching?
danjbrendel
HI Steve. Thanks for your response. I have been searching using the STYLE function. I uploaded some screenshots to illustrate my problem. Thankful for any additional suggestions!
Joel Brown
I think I see your issue! When you do large highlights, they are done across all texts, so searching can be accomplished in any text. However, when you only highlight words, they are only highlighted in that specific text, so you must be searching that specific text. In your case, "King David", part of the Messiah style, is only in your NRSVS text. However, you are running your search in your NA28-T, in which you've done no 'Messiah' highlighting, so it reports no results. Try switching the text at the top left of your search tab to NRSVS to find the highlights done in that text.
