Note and Highlight Files

As my note and highlight files increase in size do I need to consider having multiple files? For instance, right now I have three note files. One is personal notes (Bob's Notes) and it is the largest (3.5 MB). Second file is for sermon notes (which are basically simple outline notes as in sermon ideas). This file is not very large (188 KB). and the third file is for word notes which is a new file that I use to include info on a particular word in the text. I outline the word in a green box and then add a "word" note. This file is the smallest.

I have only one highlight file and it is 1.6 MB. While those number DO NOT look large to me at this point, at what point do I need to think about multiple highlight or note files? Do I need to break my note file into two sections such as New Testament and Old Testament or perhaps some other arrangement?

I guess I am looking for ideas based on what others are doing. Thanks for any recommendations.

Bob – I've been adding 'word notes' (yes, I have them, too) to the Mounce Greek Dictionary and KM Hebrew Dictionary.  I have only two Notes files – Mobile and a Notes file with everything else (9.5 MB).  I do add notes to other lexicons that pertain only to that tool.

Thanks Julie for the reply. I have not yet begun to put notes in resources only in the text at this point. I know that with another product I have it is very sensitive to note files that are large. When they are large there is considerable lag time from the time the note and especially the highlight actually show up. I have been told it is due to file size so I wanted to ensure that problem would not happen with Accordance! Everything works so much quicker with Accordance and it is certainly my Bible software of choice. Thanks again.

It might be nice to know how large the User Notes files of other Accordance folks are and find out if they've had any issues.  I don't know how large is too large, or where mine is compared to others.
