K/M is my first choice for a Hebrew lexicon when tripple clicking on a hebrew word in the Hebrew Bible Biblia.  I am used to seeing the K/M come up first. 

 

However, when I tripple click on the word  גלולים , it is the BDB that comes up and not K/M.

 

Why is this?   Moreover, when I try to switch back to K/M in the pull down menu, no listing comes up for this word.(But there is a listing in K/M for the word!)

 

For eg, tripple click on the word in

1 Kgs 21:26‏ וַיַּתְעֵ֣ב מְאֹ֔ד לָלֶ֖כֶת אַחֲרֵ֣י הַגִּלֻּלִ֑ים כְּכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשׂ֣וּ הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁר֙ הוֹרִ֣ישׁ יְהוָ֔ה מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ ס

I am going to assume you are triple-clicking in a Hebrew text. That preference is set in Preferences>Amplify>Triple-click Defaults>Hebrew. Just choose the K/M dictionary from the drop down list and click Save.

Yes, what you describe is what I have already set up.  The triple click works fine for every other hebrew word that I triple click (at least so far) and brings up the K/M,EXCEPT for the word גִּלֻּלִ֑ים

Hi Gordon,

 

The word is in KM under גִּלּוּלים, but triple click doesn't lead to it. Perhaps because it is under גִּלּוּל in all the other dictionaries I have (in cdch, bdb,- edit, etc.), and also in the ones I don't have.

This example illustrates how Accordance works behind the scenes. When you triple-click a Hebrew (or Greek) tagged word, that word is tagged with the lemma (lexical form) not with the Key number. Clicking in the text looks for the lemma in your default dictionary. However, not everyone agrees on every lemma so the lemma may not be found. Accordance goes down your list of lexicons to find the first one that does have an entry for that lemma. If it still doesn't find it, it looks in the contents of each lexicon for the lemma or the inflected form. That's why the triple-click will sometimes open an unexpected lexicon to an unexpected place.

 

In the case of this word, גלולים, the lemma in the Hebrew text is גלול and many of the lexicons do list it as such. HALOT and KM chose to list גלולים but HALOT correctly finds that entry whereas KM does not. The reason is that to overcome such irregularities, we can add a list to the module that matches them up. Apparently we did so for the longstanding HALOT but this pair has not been reported until now for KM.
