Susan
I’m trying to find all of the places where the tetragrammaton is pointed differently (for qere elohim) due to its juxtaposition with adonai. I’m having some trouble with the search for adonai. It doesn’t seem to be its own lexeme in the word chooser, although the Strong’s number is different (adonai=H0136 vs adon=H0113). If I search for אָדוֹן I get 774 hits, mostly אֲדֹנָֽי : However, when I ask it to find those next to יהוה (unpointed) it for some reason is only finding 18 pairs - all with אָדֹ֥ן which evidently doesn’t trigger the vocalization change in יהוה. There are many more with adonai next to יהוה that were included in the first search results but not the second. Any idea how I can write a search that will find these? Helen Brown
I don't think you can get accurate results for this in a key number text as so much will depend on the decisions of the translator and the tagger. Do you not have a tagged Hebrew Bible to search?
Susan
Hi Helen, I am searching the Hebrew text using Hebrew words. By mentioning the key #s was just pointing out that sometimes they are considered separately because I thought maybe that was related to my problem. (But HALOT lists adonai as a sub-entry within adon, and that’s how I think about it as well.) My trouble is that the search combining adon and yhwh didn’t find the adonai hits. (I uploaded the thumbnails to show what I was doing, but for some reason I’m not able to expand them from the post. Are they working OK for you?) Helen Brown
My internet is slow right now, cannot see the images. Surely you want to search for: "(=יְהוִהּ, =יְהוִֹה, =יֱהוִֹה)" (but that last = belongs in front of the first word). I think the easiest way is to go to Select Inflected Forms (Search menu), make sure Use Exact form is checked, enter yhwh (there's a bug that the characters disappear from the Go to, but it still works), and pick out the forms that interest you. Click OK and these forms are entered with quotes (meaning inflected), with = (meaning exact pointing), and in parentheses separated by commas (meaning alternatives). I got 34 hits. Gedalya
I got 301 literal hits searching the word אדני followed by the tetragrammaton, where in each case the tetragrammaton is vocalized like the word e-lohim. Plus there are a few cases where the tetragrammaton when pronounced e-lohim is followed by the word Adonai which I found in a separate search of the tetragrammaton followed by Adonai revealing 10 literal hits. However, this search also included some results which included words like the tetragrammaton followed by adoneynu, or adoni or tetragrammaton Adonai. Helen Brown
Ah, yes, I missed a couple of the inflected forms, now I get 305 hits using 5 inflected forms.
Λύχνις Δαν
On the images - I noticed last night that they were apparently un-loadable. Other images load fine so I don't think its the internet speed. Not sure what might be up with them - are they unusually large ? tx D Edited August 17, 2015 by Daniel Semler

Susan
They won't load for me either... Me either! On the images - I noticed last night that they were apparently un-loadable. Other images load fine so I don't think its the internet speed. Not sure what might be up with them - are they unusually large ? I don’t really know how large “unusually large” would be, but 165 KB doesn’t seem too huge... Just for fun, trying the second one again:
Λύχνις Δαν
Agreed - not large. Your new image in this post above loads fine. There must have been a problem with the original images in the upload or something. Thx D
Susan
Agreed - not large. Your new image in this post above loads fine. There must have been a problem with the original images in the upload or something. I guess so, thanks. I’ve had trouble with images for some reason. While we’re on the topic of Susan’s-technical-problems-that-don’t-deserve-their-own-thread, can anybody help me figure out why I don't get notifications for replies on “followed” threads (or any threads)? My notification options have checked both “notification list” and “email” for "Notification method to use for topics in followed forums”. Yet I only see notifications when people “like” things in the notification list, and I don’t get emails about replies to anything. And thanks to Helen and Gordon for your help with that search. I think I’ve got what I need.
Λύχνις Δαν
I get immediate emails on all followed threads. Here are my settings so you can compare with your own. Tx D
