Accordance 11

In a few weeks we will be celebrating the anniversary of Accordance 11.  This version has been 'simply brilliant'.  There is no doubt that the info pane has completely changed the way that I use commentaries and cross references.  Thank you.

One small observation; I do note that we are still on version 11.0.7.  On previous versions were were normally used to full (.) updates roughly every six months or so.  I appreciate that Accordance can never promise regular number updates and that the team constantly work flat out, but hope that we can look forward to some exciting changes soon.

Thanks again for a really great product.

Paul, thank you for your support of Accordance.  We are all well aware that it seems like development has slowed a bit since the release of version 11.  There are a few things that can contribute to this perception, but at the end of the day, trust me, we are still working just as hard and fast, simply releasing more differently.

1) While the 'dot-dot' releases have historically been simply bug fixes, since v11 we have included features in almost all of them.  A short list includes: Command click on a reference in the Info Pane to open all of them; Tie and untie panes; Command click on a verse to scroll all non-text panes to that verse; Full ID support for words in a syntax pane, and many other features.  You can see them all documented in the help (You are here: New Features in Version 11 > New in Version 11.0.x).

2) 11.1 is actually in beta testing right now, and includes a large number of new features and capabilities.  It is certainly not a stretch to say that the new aspects of 11.1 are more than what we have offered in some of the full paid upgrades in the past, yet 11.1 will be free as always.

3) 11.1 has also contained a vast under-the-hood upgrade to the codebase as we continue to keep Accordance's code base healthy and modern.  While this is not visible to the users, it enables us to keep Accordance fast and stable on modern OSes.

All of this being said, you should be able to look forward to 11.1 in not too long of a time, and it will be quite a significant upgrade.

Let me just add my 'Amen.' I was reading through the list of new features in the 11.1 beta last night and all I could think was, "Are we crazy to give this much cool stuff away?" Calling it a .1 release borders on false modesty!

Until learning about 11.1, I, too, had thought many of the "dot-dot" releases could have been full "dot" releases. Makes you wonder what 11.3 is going to look like! (assuming there is one)

Alistair, I didn't have anything in mind.  Just the joy of finding new features.

Thank you Joel and David, yes I appreciate that we've been spoiled with some great dot.dot features.  My observations where based purely on previous update time-frames.  I look forward to 11.1 with great anticipation.

Abram I'm wondering about Version 12 already.
