A little rhetoric anyone ?

Hi ya,

 

  Just read these two. Again useful in Acc for being able to look stuff up. I have copies to read in depth.

 

  The Trivium, The Liberal Arts of Logic, Grammar, and Rhetoric. Understanding the Nature and Function of Language. Sister Miriam Joseph, C.S.C, Ph.D. Paul Dry Books.

 

    This is a good grounding and introduction. It won't give you a list of all the devices of rhetoric and such but it will give your the basics of logical argumentation. Why is this useful in biblical studies ? As a background for the book below

 

  New Testament Interpretation through Rhetorical Criticism. George Alexander Kennedy. University of North Carolina Press. 1984.

 

    This is a great read, gets beyond simple devices and into rhetorical presentation. I understand it gave impetus to other work.
