Removing User Bibles on OS X ??

Michael Miles

Recommended Posts

Before I set out to eradicate a user Bible that went sideways on me on my own armed with a terminal window and a boat-load of well meaning, what might be the actually preferred methodology to rid my system of these trial-and-error attempts at user Bibles?  This is on a Mac with El Capitan.

The last time that I tried to get rid of one of these from the command line, if memory serves, resulted in a nice fresh Accordance install on my MacBook Air, so there is that.

Any guidance that I could get on this before I find myself at BestBuy purchasing a new computer would be appreciated.  LOL :)  (I'm probably buying one anyway - but not for this reason and probably not at BestBuy)

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

My usual technique is to do it from the Library. Right click on the User Bible and select remove item (I think it's remove on Mac - not in front of it). You will be given the option of removing it from disk as well. click that button and it should be gone from both library and disk.

Thx

Thank you very much for that information, Daniel.  Letting me loose in a terminal is like me running with the scissors.  :-)

Actually, I admin Linux, OS X, & BSD servers via SSH and prefer the terminal much of the time.  It all began with CP/M on my Commodore C128, and it has been an expensive ride.  I should have stayed with my old hobby of hanging around the drag strip.

Welcome.

I used to have a CP/M system on 8" floppies !

Cleaning up library items used to require manual fs cleanup but not since Oaktree added the remove from disk support. Much easier now.

Thx

I finally got back to the machine that the user Bible is installed on and I cannot find any way to delete the resource by right-clicking it in the Library.  I will take a peek around and see if I can find another way to do it in the Accordance application.

It should just be a simple matter of right click -> Remove item ....

You have to do it from entry under Texts. Any other entry such as that in the recently used won't work.

Thx

Thank you, Sir.  I will give this a shot this evening.  I was attempting to do it from Recently Opened, I do believe.

Allright, Daniel.  The test user Bible resource has been extracted successfully.  Thanks!
